A friend of mine is thinking of getting a dremel but she has carpel tunnel. She asked me if I thought she'd be able to use it but I haven't had mine long enough to give her an opinion. She wants to learn how to drill rocks and beads for jewelry. Anyone here have CT? Any thoughts or ideas as to how this might affect someone with CT? I'm no doc, but I find the vibrations from the dremel bother my wrist...alot. I don't do a lot of drilling...like every day or anything. They're also heavy...I just find I can do a bit here and there...but yeah, it bothers me. Maybe she could borrow one and try it out.

i agree, any additional strain or vibration is going to exacerbate the problem...she may be better of getting a small drill press set up.....does your friend have a brace to prevent unconscious straining? i came very close to aquiring CT because i did so much work on the computer 8-10 hours a day, anything repetitive for an extended amount of time will compromise any kind of healing.
