Fugly, Hello fellow Canadian, I don't live in Ontario, I live over in BC. Have your searched for a rock club close to you? I never thought there was one near me, but there is actually 2 of them. Bunny

I think the Barrie club is still kicking. The Canadian Rockhound or CCFMS site will give you contact info.
You are fairly close to Bancroft, the mineral collecting capital of Canada, there's a ton of stuff to collect there but the season is getting a little advanced. The most interesting lapidary materials are further north in Ontario, but Bancroft does have multi-colored feldspars - green, red, and the moonstone/sunstone variety, and quartz - smoky, rose, white, all easily collected at Quadeville. Plus sodalite and some other stuff. Lovely area for a weekend getaway.
See ontariominerals.com for information on all the minerals found in Ontario.
