My QT12 does not reliable tumble two 1/2 to 3/4 full barrels. It can be started by hand, but does not continue to turn if the power goes out and on, even though the motor hums with the power back. I do not want this to happen while I sleep or am at work, as I do not want to burn down my motor (or house) so I just use one tumbler. Is it safe to use both tumblers on a QT12, or is it just mine?

I had almost the same problem with my two barrel tumbler......after adjusting the weight and oiling the shaft bearings...it turned out I needed to oil the mail motor bearings.....and that was a job... Hopes this helps you...

mazanec mine was doing this and loosening the nut to the motor, moving the motor out to tighten the belt then retightening that nut solved it. i just moved it a little and the belt didn't look loose but it corrected it. when i took that belt cover off i had some black muck in there so i cleaned that and the belt too. i also sanded the shafts and the barrels with some sandpaper by holding the sandpaper lightly to them while they were rolling. i didn't think these things up on my own. there is a post not too far back where several people gave me advice because my barrels were stopping completely.

If doing the above doesn't solve the problem, I would plug it into a surge protector that shuts off completely when there is a power failure. That way the motor won't turn back on and just run til it burns up the motor. Better to have the barrels sit without the motor running even if they do get yucked up.
Reminder to llana - practice when you preach and buy another surge protector! ;D

Greetings All,
Sounds like a loose belt, if tightening the belt doesn't work time to buy a new one. I've looked around for outlets that stay off when the power goes out but home depot and lowes at least doesn't carry such a thing. Any recommendations on where to find one?

Had the same problem with my 2 barrel Lortone tumbler, motor bushes failing.Got greedy and was overloading i think.Am building my own machine now, industrial motor and proper bearings with iron ore sample containers as barrels but keeping the Lortone for smaller stuff as it did sterling service.
