Hi can anyone tell me what this rock is..the first 3 pics are of the same rock..the last two are the septarian geode I found on interstate 70 E and hwy 24N. Thanks everyone Look at the swirled lines.this rock takes a nice shine on the buffing wheel, but kind of looks like a sandstone. the septarian geode thanks for looking Steve

If it s taking a nice shine, I think it might be an onyx.
LOL. BTW, until today, I thought you ID was hours-in-around, which was a reference to spending time on rocks. I know better now. Never could spell.

there is an onyx from Arizona called seven springs that looks a bit like that

WOW, I was wondering if it was some klind of onyx, but was not really sure...as I thought onyx had more of a quartz look to it. This stuff is sandy brown in color.... Thanks y'all Steve

possibly a wonderstone (banded ryolite) the more silica the better the shine

I was kinda thinking wonderstone as well, but the petstore has some of that stuff with the sandy feeling to it as well, wonderstone is a little smoother so I always thought that the sandy stuff was some sort of sandstone possibly?

Looks more like onyx but another poss. is India picture rock it has the sandstone look to it with the same look as your rock. George
