Here is a piece of Common Opal I found a while back and just cut. Had to use the trim saw since the big one is down. It has many fractures and is crumbly, so I guess I'll just try to polish it and leave as is. Thanks for looking Curt

Very neat there Curt. Are the zones broken by fractures? or are those heeled patterns? Looks pretty nice and like a wood?

Very nice piece. Does it have some wooden structure, or am I wrong?

Thanks guys. It does not have any signs of being wood on the outside except in the photo below. If it is wood, it's Opalized Palm Wood. As an added bonus, the clear chalcedony areas fluoresce a bright yellow under a UV light.
