I just picked up a used UV-10. I seems to be in very good condition, only used to polish brass for reloading.
The bad part is I do not have any instructions. Does anybody have a Thumbler's Vibe? Is anyone willing to send me a copy of their directions. I will reimburse for all expenses, or I could send you some material in exchange.
Do you oil a vibe like a rotary tumbler? How long do you leave a batch in for? How much watter do you add?
Taking on a whole new approach for tumbling.
I how have the UV-10, a C/E twin 3lb, a Thumbler's Tumbler twin 3lb, and a Lortone twin 6lb tumbler. There are lots of buckets of rocks in the garage.
Now for the real bad news. If I get anything more, the car will be outside the garage this winter and they are calling for a lot of snow in Utah this year.

I don't have a Thumlers vibe but I do have 2 others. I would say the basic's are the same. I'll tell you how I use mine and you can go from there. I put the rocks in the barrel, start the unit and use a spray bottle of water to just get the rocks wet.DO NOT use a lot of water. I then add a VERY small amount of powdered Dreft laundry soap.If you count the little grains of the soap powder I would say I use about 10 - 12 and NO MORE. I let the unit run for about 5 minuets to let all the rocks get covered with a very thin coat of soap that gets sticky which help the grit to stay on the rocks. The soap also gets into those little nooks and cranys before the grit can which makes the rocks a lot easier to wash. that are hard to clean I have 4 lb unit that I add 2 tbs of #220 silicon carbide grit slowly to the load as the rocks vibrate and roll around. The idea is to just use enough grit to cover the rocks and no more. The vibe units work very fast compared to the rotary tumblers so you will have to check yours more often the you're used to.You don't want the rocks to dry out so I would check it 30 minuets after starting and then if all is OK 8 - 12 hrs should be alright. I let the load run for about 48 hrs (this ain't rocket science) and add enough warm NOT HOT to just under the top layer of rocks.Add a tsp full of the same soap and let it run for about 15 minuets. Shut the unit down and drain the barrel through a big tea strainer.A colander is fine but it should be plastic and not aluminum. Rinse the rocks, drain them well and start all over again. When you get this far ask away. It's getting late and i only 2 finger type,,,,, LOL Hope this will getcha goin' Tom
