During last month I was mainly out of town. Mainly field work. That is the reason why I wasn't active at the RTH board. But I now have many nice pictures and of course lots of nice rocks. I promise picture of them also (as soon as I get some spare time to sort and photograph them). Meanwhile I am posting some interesting nature pictures. This is one geomorphological phenomenon caused by erosion of volcanic rocks (andesites and volcanic breccias and tufas). There are several local legends about formation of these natural towers. According to one, the figures represent the petrified wedding guests who, at devils' urging, tried to marry a brother and sister, so the God petrified them to prevent this incest. The other legend says that these are the devils turned into stones by the people who had been forced to carry them on their backs, suffering misfortunes, and who, trying to get rid of them, spent a night at the Devil's Town site. Remains of medieval mine Spring of very acidic water. There are lots of sulphidisation going one here. You can imagine why is nearby river called Yellow river. Towers Thanks for looking. Zoran

Wow, Zoran what an interesting landscape! I think the stones in the top of the towers guarded them from errosion.

Beautiful scenery Zoran! Those towers are very neat and I'd be dreaming of what I could do with a metal detector around all those ancient ruins and stuff you've got all around your countryside.....Mel

Great photos Zoran. Very interesting landscape. Did you go in the mine? I would have had to go in a little ways at least. Curt Curt, it was copper, lead and zinc mine and I just entered but didn't go far, because, without adequate equipment it is not safe to go in there. Here is another mine entrance from the same area. You can enter here only on your knees. I didn't enter - I have bad knees. ;D
