I have a barrel full of Lake Superior Agates going right now. They've been in 60/90 since October 13 and is coming along nicely. There are some areas that still have spots of the rough left but it seems to add to the stone. Is there ever a time when you would consider leaving something like this?

Hi Cher , I have some agates at home , not done by me, but they still have some rough on them and they look great . I think that it comes down to what YOU are happy with.
Good luck with the tumbling

It's not so much for me Jack but wondering if any of you think someone would buy something that still had some rougher parts on them. I'm thinking some of these would make awesome pendants. I'll go post the pics.

Jack is right on the nose, what you are happy with is the standard you should go by.

Hi Cher, I think leaving a little of the rocks natural look is a great idea. I worked on a technique for several years to leave the rocks in their natural state trying to keep the same look as they are in the "rough" yet still polish them.I think this is especially nice with petrified wood. Tom

Did you take any pictures Tom? I think I will leave some, depending alot on the size, I don't want to take too much off. I've got to get me some practice wire and see how it looks that way. Thanks for the input *smile* all help is appreciated.

That's how I like my pet wood also. I come out of coarse a little sooner than I would with other stones because I want it to look like wood. It still polishes great. 'Scuse my typing tonight, guys, I'm not drunk' just really tired. Up at 5:30 this morning and in meetings all day. Danged ole real job. I wanna make jewlery and polish beautiful stones. cookie

Cher I do mine in a vibe unit. I start right out with #600 grit and put a lot of those tile separaters in the load.I even throw in some carpet tacks to get the grit in all the nooks and cranys. It's a real pain at clean up time but it works. Tom

Thanks KD,,,,,,
That piece has tiny crystals on it and that's not quite what I was refering to.
I'm in the process of building a small photo cabinet so I can't take pic's right now but hope to be up and running as soon as I can.
It's only the "money" thing that's stopping me!! LOL

Cher, How often did you recharge the 60/90? or did you keep running it with the same 60/90?
