Well, I made my first trip to Saddle Mountain yesterday.. I had a good time hiking around and seeing what was around. I had a somewhat difficult time finding and fire that I felt was worth keeping. I hiked up in and around the mountain and had a nice time even tho I didn't turn up much in the way of Fire... Maybe with more experience I can make these trips a bit more productive.. The couple TINY ones I felt were worth photographing.. Daniel

Daniel, I'm really interested in this since I went there myself, just about a year ago. Those are beautiful pieces. I came back with a lot of the chalcedony nodules, which are pretty in their own right, some with some nice looking darker areas. Some get close to what you have there, but still I am not sure I've been seeing fire even when they are tumbled -- I see green in yours. I'm curious exactly where you went. I followed directions from 2 sources. One took you in from the paved road that you turn left onto--courthouse road or something like that. The other had you turn left just before the paved highway and take a track out into the desert. That's the one I took and spent the better part of the afternoon back in there. I didn't ever actually hike up to or into the mountain, I stayed near the car and picked up a lot of stuff. After leaving there I took the highway left turn and then went in from the dirt roads on that side, which were better maintained and had some signage. Eventually I got to a maintained parking area. It was obvious right away that this place was totally picked over, compared with the first area that I took the rough road into. I found a little bit there but actually a fair amount which I spotted from the car while driving out. In so many places that's the way it is; the destination point is hopeless but nobody stops along the way. It was a beautiful place and a great experience & I still have untumbled nodules.

Those are awesome, no matter how small they're still a find! I got some fire agate too from Cuervo73 but they were white and shaped like that - not dark like that - I don't see any fire in there, but is it possible there is fire within?

If it doesn't contain fire than it's not fire agate. It's chalcedony. Pretty in its own right, though. The fire is in the dark area of the stone.
