Cher..I am not sure when or how it happened. I've had problems with it hurting for a long time and finaly went to see the doc... We tried taping the foot up for over a month with no results so now he said it is a tear in the ligament and to put it n the cast for a while to see what happens. He did give me a shot in the heel which did hurt a lot......told him I know where he parked his car and to check it for damage when he goes home too...

Dude, you better put some sunscreen on that leg between the cast and your britches or you're gonna have one heck of a sunburn on that white patch after a day at Mt. Ida!!
Hope it's nothing serious and it's back to normal soon. Just glad to know you're not gonna let a thing like a cast on your leg to slow down your rockhounding!

Ewwww was that a cortisone shot he gave you? My doc wanted me to try one, I have plantar fasciitis and heel spurs but my brother in law had one of those, said he almost decked the Dr so that took care of me having one. I'm really sorry this happened to you, these kind of injuries can take so long to heal. Hope you left a "footprint" on his car. *smile*

hey, i DO like the steel plate idea tho, save a lot of bending over, just whack the rock with the old foot plate.....hmmmmmm, i wonder if you could get a crack hammer attachment for that?
sorry to hear you are a hurting unit, Pho, but glad you are still "gung ho" for the upcoming rock collecting event.
llana is right about the sunscreen!

Yeah...it was cortisone and it hurt too....Doc did apologise for hitting a nerve but it sure sounded hollow....and while he was giving me the shot, the nurse was shooting some damn cold liquid on the area...felt like liquid ice...but the shot did help the pain. Now if I can only fit a pick or crack hammer on that heel... Pho

LMAO about the steel plate! Too bad it's not winter - that could pass off as a ski boot! Sorry to hear about your foot - must be the electricals that are messing with everyone's body! Keep extra careful watch where you step

Sorry about your heel, but I'm sure glad you're still coming to Mt. Ida. We should all get together and figure out some kind of rock to trade while we're there. I'll bring some if anyone is interested. Trish

I'm so jealous that you guys are all getting together. Hope you have a wonderful time and find lots of goodies. Oh ... and please, be careful! The rest of you will have to keep an eye or a rope on Pho so he doesn't get carried away. ;D

It's a folding chair I take camping. They do come in handy from time to time. As for the cooler..won't find any beer in it...just water and soft drinks.. The wife said she is getting so excited about this trip...can't blame her at all. I am ready to go digin' in the dirt.

just bring what tools you want to work with...lots of water. you will need some buckets too....gloves if you want them...(recommended) I figure we can go to Gee and Dee's on Monday...that's $20 a head. They have a good mine to work in..or to Wegners mine (if we have enough people,,,they want a minumun of $200 to go to the mine..so that will be 10 people...we may luck out and find others wanting to go also) Mostly...just come to have a good time..and you will find some crystals. I can not promise you that you will find big clusters, but you will find lots of quartz.... First time we went to the tailings pile we found several clusters..nice ones too..the last time I went I did not find any clusters but did end up with 10 gallons of quartz...so go figure..

Dang ligament anyway- I got them heal spurs- They wanted to shoot me up in the heel- Hmmmm NO FREAKIN WAY!!!!!! I cured mine by slamming my heals down on concrete as hard as I could!! (not on purpose- kinda stepped off the third rung of a ladder and missed the other 2) Could not walk for 3 days- but sure did cure the spurs!!! Pho make sure let that leg breath a bit- guess it would be a little sweaty after a day of diggin- Have a great trip!

Pho, Sorry to hear about your foot. You might want to bring something to cover your soft cast with or you might leave with an orange boot! Wish I could make it up there to meet yall. Maybe another time. Take care of your foot and have a wonderful time!!!
