Anyone know any thing about it?
I was fired yesterday and given some bs reasons ( the general manager who is my direct supervisor couldn't be there, she wasn't feeling well!) and told I'd have to ask the GM...um ok she's not here, and I don't think I'll be calling to chat!
I'm still drunk so gimme a few before I answer any speciific questions LOL
I knew it was coming but it still hurts dammit!

Well that stinks Lesa.. sorry to hear about this. The law will vary from state to state. Texas law basically says that an employer can hire and fire at will but vested employees may have civil recourse for unjustified termination. Here's a couple of good places to start: www.nrtw.org/www.dol.gov/Good luck.. and hang in there. Dan

You can also check with the labor department of your state. Most states will review a case for you to let you know whether, in their educated opinion, you have a leg to stand on and give you resources of where to go from here if you do have a case.

Yep, if you're in an at will state you can be terminated for any reason or for no reason. Generally you have no recourse if you were fired for just cause, but should be eligible for unemployment if not. If you were fired for discriminatory reasons, then it's time to get an attorney. You better have documentation. S

Xena Sorry to hear about your misfortune. The labor laws of this country are fast becoming more and more skewed to big money interests and away from the common man. It sounds like your talking about Texas, not Washington. If so, that will probably work against you. Texas has a very bad rep about protecting people against business. csroc
