I don't get too many of these guys at the feeder. ;D The other critters don't know what to think of this!

That squirrel is oblivious to everything except the bird food! The woodpecker in the upper left isn't too sure about the new bird in town.

I have a Squirrel proof feeder just like that one. Pulled into my cabin one friday night last summer and WHAT THE ??. Darn Squirrel had Weaseled in under the metal top and ate his way all the way to the bottom. I removed the feeder from the hanger and, carried it into the Tavern just down the hill from our cabin and ask if anyone would like to buy a squirrel proof feeder. Got a good chuckle from everone but no offers. When I opened the top and dumped him on the ground in the parking lot it looked like Jessie James headed for the hide out. I had no idea a Squirrel full of Sunflower seeds could move that fast.

I don't believe there is such a thing as "Squirrel proof". They have all day every day to plot how to get into those things! They never fail!! I do wish you had a picture of that! I can see it in my mind and it's funny!!! Those little eating machines can put away a lot of food. Here's my best squirrel proof feeder shot:

I think that the Squirrel proof refers to not being able to get their nasty little chompers in far enough to rat knaw through the plastic. The last feeders we bought cost in excess of $40.00 each. Filled feeders and launched the old flat boat for a couple Hrs. fishing on the Miss. river. Came in for breakfast and guess what, $80.00 worth of feeders laying on the ground in pieces . Went into town and bought the very same feeders as you have , also a cheap light weight green extension cord at the doller store. I spliced onto the end of the cord after cutting off the plug and ran wires to the ropes hanging the feeders from the porch roof . I removed the insulation from about 10 inches of the ends and taped them on opposite sides of the rope . I cut a groove in the door sill and have the other end of the cord laying next to the wall plug in where I have my morning Coffee and watch the birds with the grandkids. By the time the kids are up and moving the Squirrels have all been launched and the kids can watch the birds that have resumed feeding. Its amazing how far a Grey Squirrel can jump with a little incentive.

You get a lot more distance if their little feet are wet from the dew on the grass.

The ducks live on the canal in back. They haven't been to the feeder in a few days. I guess they found more normal duck food!
