daniel i dug my book out and it has to either be the mountain bluebird or the indigo bunting. is it this indigo bunting? www.roysephotos.com/IndigoBunting.htmlsands i was thinking somebody's bird got out too lol. adrian that's what i was thinking when i saw him too. he must be the proudest bird in the yard with all that color. i think i spotted a 2nd one too. also spotted some stray cat lurking around. kim

It's an Indigo Bunting all right. it must be bunting season or something. We had a Lazuli Bunting on our bird bath the other day. It's the western form as we don't have the Indigos out here. You guys might have Painted Buntings too. A beautiful group of birds anyway. They do look like Jamie's Chrysocolla *S*....mel

That is an indigo bunting. If you see him in the shadows, you will not see the beautiful blue color. The female is a dull brown.

That is a strikingly awesome bird. Good Job, catching those photos. I saw from the link those pics of that Indigo Bunting were taken in Ohio, in May and July. I am going to keep my eyes peeled for one, around here. Chrysocolla Bird! Wooohoooo =)) Mary

It's an Indigo bunting. We will have them until fall here. I'll get some pics of bluebirds for you, they are all over here. My couple didn't move back in though, they usually nest in the birdhouse I have on the deck, but they didn't this year. Once you get a house set up for them,, they will come back each year. They are funny to watch, the male will go in real quick, check things out, then he sits on top of the house or a limb nearby, t hen the female will go in, then out, then in, then out, then they make their decision. All of my mom's houses are full of bluebird couples and one has eggs in it already.
