here in Central New York, we have a very narrow window between when the snow finally melts and the black flies hatch . you will see residents scrambling frantically (me included) to rake, pick up sticks, rake, charge the mower, rake, sweep and generally hurt every bone and muscle in your back, knees and elbows in anticipation of the greening of the grass and the swarms of blood sucking insects . in between this time, we get a few rewards: almost, almost, almost........... maybe tomorrow! maybe now i can get back to rocks!
