Holy Shnikies, is this stuff messy or what?? I've heard hematite is a mess, but this stuff has to be right up there too doesn't it? I cracked off a huge piece and my son and I went to whackin' it up. We busted off lots of cool chunks and threw them in the vibe. I put some soap and water in and let 'er run for a while. I was very suprised to find the "water" very redish in color.
I drained and loaded it up w/ 120/220. Well see how it goes.
I was also suprised to see how brittle the outside of the rock was. Does this stuff polish well, or should I stick w/ the inside, harder guts? I threw it all in anyway.
Does anyone have any tip, time, money saving hints on the best ways to vibe petrified wood?
Later, Gaeter

I just wanted to say, WOW!!!! I just recharged and I'm amazed how good they look after just 24 hours in the vibe. There are really gonna be some goodies in that batch when they're done. This is gonna be a fun one.
Just thought I'd share some of that excitement.
Good night all,
Gaetz

I haven't broken up any pet wood yet. I have a load of pet wood around that is all small pieces..just right for tumbling. I do have a lot of large pieces I want to slab some day. Guess I might try breaking up a large one to see how well it tumbles... And yeah...pet wood looks wonderful after it's all done.

I haven't found any big enough to break up but I can see why some would do that. Pet wood is pretty cool, I'm hoping I'll find more of it this summer. Good luck with it, will be watching for the pics.

I saw cut p wood & will change the coolant to a different color.
It does polish VERY well.
It seems to me that the black p wood is not a brittle as the red. However, if you ask me, the red looks better.

Tell-
This sample is pretty much on the "dark side" w/ some redish slices. I really think it's gonna be a keeper.
The Pet wood you polish is home grown stuff I'm guessing? I'm gonna take some of your tips and head south for a bucket or two.
take care,
Gaetz

I just started a batch of petwood today in my tumbler. I am new to tumbling, but have done a couple of "kits" and was really happy with the results. If you all have any tips I sure would like to hear them. Thanks
