Do they search for rocks? This one seems to be either a great find or a deep search: If I'd have such a cow, I'd glue some rocks on her belly and use as a first stage tumbler. It should be quick. Thanks for looking, Adrian

Adrian...that's a north american phenomenon known as "cow pie bingo"...people bet on which square the cow will...um...."make a deposit!". It's pretty funny to watch a bunch of adults sit around for an hour watching where a cow will go poo.

Now I understand the joy of the man in the right. Probably it was his square.
I wander what hapends if the ... "pie" overlaps a line.

Ahh there was a farmer that used to make clocks out of cow pies! (they were dried before he assembled it) but it was funny watching the reporter picking one up that was still too FRESH!

I really hate to admit this, but we did a cow pie bingo event at our local county fair a few years back as a fund raiser. First, you make a pen for the cow, then divide the pen into 100 squares, 10 across and 10 down. After making a poster w/the same squares, you sell the squares to people for whatever amount you want (we did $10 each). Then, you determine the prize $$ (we did $500, with the other half going to the fund raiser.) When all the squares are sold, you put the cow in the pen and wait. Side bets are encouraged from the crowd, kind of like playing craps . They bet on how long it will take, how much, how juicy, you name it, they bet on it. Most 'winners' donate at least part of their side bets to the charity. If the first cow pie lands on 2 squares, the people with those squares split the prize. So if the poo lands on 5 and 6 across and 3 down, those people each win $250. Another local fair also does this each year with ducks. No s--t!

I think they had itches and tried to solve the problem by throwing gravel on the itchy skin. I didn't see this behaviour till now. They seemed to enjoy it a lot, the brown spotted one was the champion.

That could be it. Or they could actually be looking for minerals. Are there any natural salt licks around there?

No, no minerals as I know, they only drank water from the river. They didn't lick any rock (so they weren't really addicted rockhounds ) so I think they weren't searching for salt or such. Adrian
