The 16" slab saw the oil was clean ,I had drained it to make it less weight .It cleaned up nice , Cuts Great , Agates any way ! The small saw was a different story . He must have used it alot more. it was a mess ! It's a10" the blade seems to cut good , but the resirvour was about full of junk .So I dumped the oil ! So what should a guy use ? Shell oil has two kinds ,Shell pella and shell Dialax ? Shell dialax has less missing . Next where to order from ? I also a got Crown vib tumbler any body know anything about that . And alot of rocks and much more ! It was agood find ! Thanks Glenn ;D ;D

Hi Glenn,
I use Shell Pella in my 10" rock saw. There is almost no odor. I haven't used the other one - Dialex. From what I have read on Pella was that it was a grade below food-grade oil. I found it by calling petroleum companies in the phone book. The place I found sold it in 5 gallon pails and ran $8 per gallon. That was a couple of years ago. With the crazy gas prices lately, I would imagine the cost has gone up.
You can also recycle the oil. Get a 5 gallon pail and a brown paper grocery bag. Put the bag in the bucket and pour the oil and gunk into the bag, the bag acts as a filter. The oil will come out like new. I also use a piece of hardware cloth/chicken wire in the bottom of the bucket to hold the bag above the oil.

Did you have a thick layer of oily residue on your saw, and how did you clean it up? I got a saw/grinder/buffer and the saw area has almost a 1/4 inch layer of old thick oily debrid and I have no idea how to clean it up. I have no idea what is in the resevoir. Tami
