Tweet- Some of the best Auroras I saw was on a fishing trip to Sudbury- Man it just took my breath away- the first night (it was like 65 degrees) the next morning we woke up to 35 degree RAIN- No more lights after that- but yes they are stunning!

I think the suspense of the last one has them all wore out. Maybe lots of them don't even realize this is a new one.

no thanks necessary, kd7cot, it was a good name for the stone. as subject to personal opinion as this contest really is, i try to be objective when matching names to stones. i also like to include the different views especially if someone comes up with one i hadn't seen before.
and it's up to the group as to which name is the best name. it's all in fun.
besides, there isn't a rock club near me to hang with or compare notes with, so this forum is a great way to share the love of the stones.
apologies for previous burst of petulance, i was tired and cranky, haha.

Hey KD, Huh? I've said this to you many times before, and I'll say it again, you do some great work! Artists have earned the right to be a little eccentric sometimes (I guess that doesn't excuse me being eccentric all the time).
By the way, the fact that you married an Engineer speaks highly of you! Who does your hubby work for? Where did he go to school? Just wondering if I might know of him or any of his work.

Hi KrazyD - I didn't put a name in as I was too busy on the programming front. I took a look at the work and thought - "Cellular" level - really small micro level. Maybe a Red Blood Cell or along those lines! A cell attacking an intruder virus. That was my thought anyway. Eye of the Storm is nice though - with the colour Red being a sign of danger. Mark

Hey Ron, an artististic person being married to an engineer? get real. (just kidding).
my better half studied at Cambridge University in England. he is a hardware/software computer guy and worked for a Brit company called International Computer Limited for a long while. so did i, that is how we met. i was into CAD/CAM in the early days designing circuit boards and technical manuals, among other things.
when the bottom dropped out of the Computer industry in the mid 80's and ICL pulled the plug here we were offered the choice to go back to the UK or stay here. we'd just bought a house so i went into architectural design (which is what i really went to school for) and he went into his own electronic design business for a while, then sold it and worked for a bunch of local companies here in Central NY. i doubt you would have heard of any of them (Laser Precision, Hamilton Digital and currently Integrated Sensors, Inc.).
he is also a real Lego fan and started his own side business making after market sensors for the Lego Mindstorms Robotics kits. you think us rockhounds are weird, you should attend a few Lego conventions, now THOSE people really need tin foil hats.
anyway, i went from the ivory tower of architecture to the grim reality of General Construction and back again. i finally threw in the towel a few years back due to a number of reasons. stress, general well being and to spend some quality time with my elderly parents before they pass. i consider myself the Supervisor of Building and Grounds now, as i mow the lawn, plow the snow and do most everything to run the household. (pack the old dear off to work everyday and sneak downstairs to play with all my toys is more like it!!!!) HA!
my dad is the one that started this rock thing by giving me and my mom a tumbler for Christmas a few years back. although i've always had a love for stone.
that is probably more than anyone really wanted to know, but, hey, you don't have to read it all.
2 hours to go before KC#6's winner is announced, but it does look like Stefan is going to walk away with it!
cheers, KD
