I was combing thru my Dish Network channels and noticed about 3 or 4 shopping channels centered around gems.
Do any of you watch them or have even purchased anything off them?
Seems really shady to me, but that's just my opinion. I'd rather see, feel and hold them.

I had a friend years ago that was as addicted to the shopping channel - there was only one back then - as we are addicted to rocks! He ordered everything he saw advertised on late night TV. His garage was loaded with stuff, some useful, most useless! I never watch the shopping channels - too much temptation! I could probably be as bad as my friend if I would allow myself! I always see something advertised on TV that I think would be neat to have, but have usually been able to resist. Watching a shopping channel might be too much to resist! llana

Their price on most stuff seems too pricey- I was gonna get my wife a ring on there (saphirre i think) found the same ring at the local chain jewlers at 1/3 the price!

I'm not even really talking about the jewely portion. I'm talking just about cut jems and cabs.

If you want gems, go to www.Thaigem.com. They have reasonable gems at reasonable prices. I get a lot of gems from them for setting for my customers. Never mind the Home Shopping Channels. Their gems, jewelery, etc is mostly crap. I have tried to repair a lot of that jewelery. The castings have heavy pits, and the bracelets are mostly solderfilled 14K. Almost impossible to repair.

Oh I was never even considering to purchase that stuff, I was just curious if people really do. I was suprised Dish has about 2 or 3 channels dedicated to cut gems and cabs.
They must be moving stuff to stay on the air.

Hey Gaetz,, I bought a couple of 250 ct parcels of mixed faceted gems from the Jewelry Chanel section of American Collectibles Network. I paid 1/2 of the $300.00 price per parcel through a friend who's sister works there. The faceted aquamarine and rubies alone paid for both parcels. Some of the stones were so small you need a loupe to see them but some were very good. Not all their parcels are the same though. It's like the luck of the draw. They literally scoop the gems indiscrimently out of 30 gallon garbage cans, weigh them and send them off! I may have got lucky but I would do it again. Here's a link to a parcel of mixed faceted gems just to give you an idea. www.jewelrytelevision.com/estore/product.asp?product_id=KIT1071Tom
