I have never used titanium oxide before and am wanting to try it. I can't seem to find any anywhere on the net. Help please.

I got several pounds from a friend but the stuff he gave me was titanium dioxide. He was in the plastics business and they used it as a white pigment. It's also used in white paint as a pigment. The titanium dioxide works well as a polish but it gets into every crack and fracture. When you pour off the tumbler after polishing, the liquid is just like white paint and if you get any splotches on the floor, it leaves a white stain.
I saw where Banjocreek replied that he used titanium oxide for polishing.

Tin Oxide is about twice as expensive, and as Silverfoxx sez, the Titanium Dioxide stuff gets thick!! burnishing is a must after you get done with that stuff.
in my limited experience, titanium dioxide is great for all stones including softer ones, so is Tin Oxide. i've found that patience and cheap polish works for harder stuff (agates and some harder jaspers).
there are some rocks that no matter what polsih you use will never shine. if i am running junk or do overs i tend to use cheapo polish (that CPP i just tried was grreat!) and if a got a great batch of preforms i give in and use the pricey stuff. it's probably all in my head.
(the lunatic is in my head),
hey go check out the llama song post in the Joke thread (Life the Universe and Everything), it's hilarious!

I don't recommend titanium dioxide. However titanium oxide doesn't foam as much. This is my polish of choice for agate, jasper and moonstone. Anything softer and I use tin. Go here: www.rocksandthings.com
