Here's one of the last of my stones for the shops. Didn't get pics of everything, but this stone has me hypnotized. I wish I'd taken a photo of it BEFORE I cut it up, but I had no idea it would be such a pretty stone. No idea what it is, but the white darn near GLOWS! It feels like an agate or chalcedony, the black is softer than the white. The bluish rods are probably feldspar. I'm calling it a porphyry... I've only one other piece of this and methinks it's got "MINE" written all over it. Geez, it's hard selling these things - I just want to keep them!

It sure looks like a porphyry to me. The llanite from TX is quite similar, with the black undercutting.

Beautiful work. There is a wolf's head or perhaps a husky's near the top of the left side of the cab which makes the stone even more mysterious. I can see why the second piece of that stone will be staying with you.

Great job on the cab! I don't think I've seen that stone before. (scratches chin) I use half-round when making leather loops. I wrap a single strand first...then make the loop...the wrap them together. This puts the begining of the wrap under the leather, which keeps it from snagging or coming undone. Half-round gives a neater finish also.

Hi Tweety - I'll get a pic of the back if it returns from it's expedition to the shop on the island... Looks basically like the front, the bail hooks on the back, side wires. I hadn't found any of the spring things in sterling silver - have you found some?
You are SO RIGHT about the wrap on the leather Nancy. All that half round and I never thought of that. :-) Thank you for the great feedback! I've been starting at the other end as well...cool.

Your very welcome gal! You can make you own spring type ends by wraping round wire around a knitting needle that is a tad larger than the size needed. Put a tad of glue in it...put in your cord...crimp just the last few sections on your springy thang. Tada...you can put hooks on one end of your spring...or a loop. One of these days...I'll have all these tutorials on my site. I'm still working on the new site. sigh....

Cool...thanks Nancy...<running off to make springy thingies>
Oh, the bad part about making tutorials is that it takes time away from playing with pretty rocks and shiny wire!!!

Thanks guys. I really have fun doing the weaves. I wish I had more time. I keep polishing rocks and can't seem to keep up to get them wrapped!! THEN I don't want to let them go!
