Oh, wow! That clear quartz.... amazing! I've had a very, very few stones come out of final polish from my tumbler that were almost that clear (almost, but not quite!). How the heck did you do that? And I think the Charoite is amazing. I just filed that name in my 'have to google' list. Thanks for the pix!

Gil: Boy if you have quartz that clear you should try putting a quartz dome on some of your thinner Woodward cuts. They make great doublets and so does the needle peak material....mel

I agree with Mel on using the clear stuff for doublets. The Charoite is killer.. reminds me of Pietersite. Nice job Condor!!

I think he's just holding a circular ring of some sort - there's nothing really there! It's practically invisible.... yummy - that charoite sure is special too!

Gil, your Charoite cabs inspired me to buy a slab of it today, not nearly as nice as yours but had to have some.
Kim, the Romper stompers reference is disturbing ;D

Thanks for the compliments folks. Let me tell you about the Charoite slab. I actually was able to buy a few of them along with a really nice polished two pounder (it's about four inches long x three inches wide x one inch thick.) I bought them at the Tucson show on the last day that most dealers would be there. This Russian gentlemen had a plane to catch so he lowered the price on them. I think I paid something like thirty bucks for them. As I went from room to room, another Russian asked me what I paid, and when I tolh him, he had a fit. I was lucky that way too with some Andean Opal. Got a flat for $15.00 from a guy from Peru.

The dimensions you described but a 1/4 inch thick (will admit the colors were pretty good but still not as good as your cabs) this morning was marked $50.00 which I could not swing. So bought about a third size for $12.50. Just hope I can do it justice.

That clear quartz ... you could make eyeglasses from it! And that charoite is wonderful.
