pout. Dino bone, and the broken cab was labradorite. The wire was 12k gold filled. I dropped the darn thing. I guess I need rubber cabs in the winter... Diana aka Dee

Oh No! That was a nice piece too. I would give the superglue a try.

OOhh, I cry for you.... What a wonderful idea, and what wonderful stones. I sure hope you can salvage it somehow!

Thanks for listening to my tale of woe...I 'll go buy some superglue tomorrow. Darn. If I fix it, I guess it's another one for me to wear!

aww well maybe those two stones weren't meant for each other.. but they are choice looking stones.. and I do understand the frustration after getting that far... but if it means anything I think that was going to be a bad ass set ..

I sure hope the super glue works for you. That set makes a really eye-catching piece. Sending you wishes for lots of good luck!

Superglue can work wonders. You may have to rework it a bit but should be as good as new. Not that I would have did that befor, or may I have one or two like that......MrP

Aww major bummer. Well look at it this way, if the stone was going to break the next time it was dropped then at least it heppened while you were still working it and not after you sold it. I would personally try to use jewelers epoxy instead of CA glue because I find sometimes it leaves a yucky whitish residue where epoxy always dries crystal clear when mixed properly. Good luck with it whatever you decide to do, it would be a shame for that wrap to go to waste or have to sit there waiting for a new cab to replace the broken one. You should see how many stalled or otherwise unfinished projects I have lying around here!

+1 on the epoxy ... I've had nothing but bad luck with super glue.
Keep in mind that all is not lost. If the glue-job doesn't work-out, you'll just have to make a new cab to replace it, same size/shape. I''l bet a piece of pet palm would look nice with that dino bone.

Thank you for the epoxy idea! Seriously, I would have just kept the pieces in a baggie and groan now and then. Wouldn't have thought to glue it together again! (my newb-ness is showing!) Here's the finished piece. It was a bear!! The 18 guage round for the bail binding was HARD (I *thought* it was half round - darn mismarked bag). Something for ME to wear to the next show I do!

That happens to me all the time on my flat lap. I need some sort of rug or mat just in front so in case I drop a stone it has a better chance of surviving.

Looks like you did a great job! If it's done really well, the only way to tell it's been epoxied is to look under a black light.
