1. I know that the grit breaks down, but does polish break down also?
2. Can you reuse polish?
3. Can you mix different polish together? (Aluminum Oxide and Cerium Oxide)
Thanks for any inputs anyone has.

Not sure about the polish breaking down, but I've heard that you can re-use the polish - haven't tried this myself, but some have

Polish does not break done as much as it rounds off- I reuse polish and it seems to get better with time- I mix about half old with half new- I only use AO as it is cheap and gives good results!

I have reused polish, but, if I am polishing a very hard stone and happen to get small particles of that stone in the polish, when I again use it on a softer stone, I am afraid it may scratch them. 2ยข

I reuse mine all the time. I just keep the slurry in a VERY clean container after each use. As the polish settles, I dump off the excess water. You do lose a little each time so about every other polish cycle I add a little new stuff. If for any reason I think it might have become contaminated, out it goes.

Hi fish, Well the others covered your questions very well but I would like to add that it is NOT recomended to mix different types of polish as they are made up of different "base" materials(aluminum, tin, etc).
