Anyone here ever sent anything to these guys? www.lambertgems.com/gemcutting.phpI thought it might be neat to get some sparklier stuff faceted. Maybe make something nice for my wife for all the times she has gone collecting with me even though she isn't really into it.

hey scott w....why not get in touch with a rock club within a 300 mile radius of you...or maybe docone31...a member here.
or a local jewel cutter....why in the world would you want to find or collect a peice....and then send it overseas to be cut?.
they are already taking most of our jobs....and doing such small things as this is fueling the fire.
yes...i already know the answer...its cheap....even with shipping.
not faulting you for looking...or even doing it ;D....kev.

Never been to Saskatchewan have you? Big and empty(of people). I agree with you on not sending things overseas but as far as I know there is no one in Saskatchewan who cuts gems ,except maybe for themselves, but I don't know who they are. On my web search I found no one from Canada at all who cuts gems for other people. I was pretty much looking at these guys because of price and no minimum order, since everyone was overseas anyhow. If anyone knows of someone from Canada I would definantly consider them. My biggest concern with the Lambert guys isn't so much the price as shipping some of my nicest finds to Thailand and never seeing them again.
By the way there is a club just under the 300 mile mark from me but I'm not sure if anyone does faceting there. At there show last year there was none displayed. Its the Regina, Saskatchewan club if someone knows differently.

What are you looking to have cut, Scott? There are a few gem cutters in Flint, Michigan who are renown for their quality. In fact, there is one with the nick name of Spiderman, who has designed faceted CZs with a spider emblem underneath, faceted in! He has done others that change color, depending on which type of light hits them. If I can get into contact with him, your stone will probably be worth many times its current value when he gets done with it. Also, people around these parts don't skimp on quality like they do in Asia. Let me know by sending me an email (this board should have that feature, I hope).

Scott, check out Jeff White at www.whitesgems.com/I know several people that have had work cut by him, and he is a true master. His prices are incredibly reasonable. He will cut rough that you have or will source rough for you.
