I've tumbled a few pieces from a slab I dropped. They worked ok in my 3 lb barrel but in the 6 lb barrel they don't tumble worth poo! The 6 pounder has flat sides in it and the slabs stick to the sides so they polish and round off nicely on one side and the other side stays completely flat. I have to take the dremel to them to round them off so they'll tumbler like a regular stone.

will the slabs break in the tumbler.
I have 2 three pounders, the slaps are 2 " X 1"
Do you put other rocks in with the slabs?

Yes I tumble slabs about that size- They work pretty good but because of the flat side they seem to take a bit longer (2 run through polish) I use lots of pellets in polish so they don't get beat up

I didn't have any problem, just tossed them in with whatever I had in the barrel. They tumbled and polished just fine but I suppose it could make a difference if they were really thin. KD cuts slabs, trims them to smaller pieces and tosses them in her tumblers all the time.
