Anyone here ever tried this program? dapple.geosoft.com/default.aspI'm just wondering if it would be useful for rock collecting or would it be way over a non geologists head?

I use Google Earth for gathering some rockhounding and mining related information. The more you come to understand it's limitations, the more truly useful it can be for you.
As for Dapple, I only quickly glanced at the site, but it seems to be heavily geared toward geology. Unless you understand the implications of geological events and formations, I doubt it would be of any use to you. Even if you did have some understanding of geological events in relation to the possibility of finding certain mineral occurences, you would still only end-up with the knowledge that a given mineral has the possibility of occurring in a general area. This program would be much more useful to a serious miner than a rockhound.
If you feel like downloading it and playing with it a bit, let us know more about it.

OOh, I love that sort of stuff even if I don't understand 90% of it! I may try it and see how it goes. I tried looking at some geologic maps using google maps and it didn't eork so good. Steve
