OK, I am making some wraps for someone and decided to wrap this big poppy jasper as one of the ones they get to choose. It took me a long time becuse I had to add some slack to the outside wires as I went along. I put a lot of thought into the design. But... I am just not sure about it. One of those "looks better on paper" ones. Also, the two side corners move slightly, so I'm not sure about it's strength. If I keep it the way it is I'll just do another cab for this person. So the question is: Do I keep it the way it is or start over? Photo #2 is the new design I was thinking of. Steve

I like it as it is now. Can you adjust some of the wires so that the cab is a bit tighter in the wrapping?

The pendant is gorgeous. So is the drawing. But we have a word here: don't trade the birdie in your hand for the crow on the fence.

I like what you've got now. I would give a little extra twist to try to tighten up the sides a little. It looks very secure from here.
I never draw out my plans-I just sit and stare. I've come up with a saying of "where ever the wire takes me"-sadly though, it seems like they always take me to the same place!

I like the current design as it stands. I'm trying to imagine the stone in the new design, and it's strange - it looks like a totally different shape. This is a good example of the flow of the wire creating an illusion of shape on the stone. Is it the stone that's loose or just the wire riding off the side of the cab?
I think the new design looks really nice as well, and I can't wait to see that wrap when it's finished!
So - do you design on a stone by stone basis or is it shape based? Can you picture another cab of the same shape in the new design?

I think it looks really nice. I'm not sure how to explain this but when I've had a problem like that I've taken a hold of the wire in the back with my flat nose pliers and gave it a slight twist to snug it up. Kind of like a zigzag so the wire looks like a lightening bolt. Hope I'm making some sense here but if you can do this on both of the side corners .... on the back, you might be able to snug it up.

OK, it looks like it's a keeper. Thanks for your ideas on snugging it up. I'll see how it goes. I picked out another stone to cut. Completely different shape, but it'll look nice. So it's saved, I'm not trading for that crow on the fence. ;D I guess I came around.
Arkansan, it just the wire that's riding up the stone on the sides. I think tightening it up will help. Wraps are a stone by stone basis as you say for me, and that particular jasper is usually full of fractures so another large one like that will be tough. I don't really think about the wrapped result when making cabs. I just think, "oh, here's a shape I haven't tried in a while." Steve

VERY pretty Steve! I'm glad you decided to keep it the way it is. Snugging it up in the back should help a lot.
