Hi
Me and some friends watched a wire wrapping video. They used square and half round in the video. I have round wire. Can I use that or is it just a waste of time to try and get it to look nice?
Were can I buy copper square and half round wire?
Thanx Larry

You sure can use round wire. The bindings lay better with half-round, but round alone does work. I've experimented with using round 2 guages smaller for my bindings, and it's been fairly successful. I think Cher uses round and half round in her wraps, if you want to look back over some that she's done. As for square and half round copper, brandywine supply - www.brandywinejewelrysupply.com/ - carries it.

I have a few wraps for sale in my etsy store that are done with round wire. I'm still a major beginner compared to most here.

I prefer square and half round for the bindings. The half round lays flatter and makes for a neater wrap (IMHO). Using square, again it lays nicer against the stone, and then you have the option of twisting your extra. But, if using round, for sure use smaller gauges for your wrap wires. KJ
