this is a bragg then a let down at the same time. he was told today that he actually aced the crcst science test.....i may not have that right....i dont know the correct abbreviation.....and i do not know if it is easy or hard to ace it. the science teacher actually called us....after cp was told.....i think the teacher thinks they need some kind of reward ....but yet the rest of the school is failing miserably. but on the bad side....the day of his grandfathers funeral...he took the same kinda test that morning for math.....and the teacher said he was everywhere but there....she is waiting on those scores. i think it is so cool for him to have aced a state science test...8th grade is all it is......but maybe fail and have to repeat a grade because of a death in the family....and he wasnt concentrating as needed. i aint going in to detail....but there are a few people watching his test scores....and this math thing could hurt a lot....his report card was 95 percent before the stupid test you must pass. anyway just bragging and ranting at the same time ;D....kev.

hell man they should offer the test as a do over since he had much more serious things goin through his mind at the time -- i can tell just from the little i know of cp here that he knows what he is supposed to take serious and does, his teachers should also see that being around him more and give him the chance to make it up
but anyway hey cp way to go man i love hearing about young people doin good in school -- most your age don't realize ( a good education means a good life ) keep up the good work my daughter was like you she did well in school and she's now 20 she just sent me her new biz card she was just made office manager at an Allstate insurance co. that shes working at its not a giant place but she has a few people under her -- hell at 20 shes doin better then i ever did haha-- don't get me wrong i made a pretty good take home pay for a long time but nothing i could put on an application for another job hahaha

That is great. I agree the school should let him have a do over; if he needs it. Good grades open many doors.

You've got bragging rights Kev. Way to go on the science test CP!! I had a tough time with science class, I muddled through some how.
I hope they will give him a shot at that test again. The passing on of close family is a very big deal and throws a person off balance.

Kev, is the test an assessment test? If so, they shouldn't hold him back, he'll get more chances to take them as he continues on. I think they will have another in 10th grade and then again in 11th. If he doesn't pass them by 11th, they will make him try again until he passes or he won't get to graduate. It is basically the same test they give here in Fl. My son failed his english one in 10th and had to take a special after school class and they gave it to him again. This time he actually read the questions and answered them right instaed of being bored and just coloring in whatever circle he wanted. He has always gotten top scores in the tests all through his school years. Imagine my shock when he failed it last year! I about came unglued! I hope it's the same testing, It would be wrong to hold him back without giving him the chance to do it again. Good Luck CP!!

Well.. can't say I remember much about them kind of tests back then, things were starting to get blurry... Sounds like your boy has a good head on his shoulders!.. and it's Way cool of you to support him like ya do.. (even if it's braggin) lol.... I'm almost positive that it still helps..
Hope he aint bummin over the math , Cuz If I remember, I thought science was always more fun... lol.. .. And unless he's trying to get into Military School.. I don't think failing that test could hold him back especially if he was a 95avg.. but then again.. I dunno I failed math.. lol
But hope it all works out.

if cp happens to fail the math test......he will have the oppurtunity to take the test again....he may need to attend summer school.....he can take the test again outright....thats things i didnt know....untill today.....so we wait and see ;D.
so no matter what happens....he gets to go at it again ;D.
and its the CRCT test for georgia......i got it right that time i think ;D.....and ya 8th graders gotta pass it it or no go.

yep he failed it.....and we know why of course...he shouldnt have ...but he did. but whats really sad is the fact that only 30 percent of the students at that school passed the test...out of 500 kids...whats that about 145 or 150 kids passed. this will be the 4th year that school failed the kids...and i think they will be taken away from the county and placed in the states hands.....if i understand correctly. so... he can take the test once more...without summer school...or go to summer school and then take the test....only 1 more shot. hes going to summer school to be sure ;D...he aint liking it....but its the way its gonna be. i said above that the shcool failed the kids....i mean that....but i dont......cause im sure a lot of parents arent doing there job at home helping ....at least when we knew cp was having a hard time in math...we got a neighbor to help him{teacher}....maybe that was a little late on our part also...who knows. but damn...only 30 percent of the kids passed the math test . thats gotta be a bigger problem than parents helping and doing there part. if he gets past this...im sure he will....ill sure be glad hes back in our part of town for high school....kev.

Yeah, Kev - one thing those tests are showing is where problems in school systems exist. The district I just left was put on probation because of failing test scores two years in a row...three years later after an administrative and teacher shake-up they were above average for the state. It's not always the kids themselves. Sometimes it really is a poor school system!
it's good to hear that CP can take the test again with a no-harm/no-foul policy. From what you've shared, he's a really bright kid, and if people outsideare noticing that now, I'd hate for something like this to ruin opportunities for him down the road.

Congrats Kev, you have every right to be proud of Colton!
And an even bigger Congrats to you Colton! WTG on doing so well on the test. I'm sure you'll Ace the next one too, but take advantage of the extra help you can get in summer school, it's only a short time and can give you a big advantage.
