I'm not an expert but that one looks pretty good. More than enough power and the price is ok. It should keep you ahead of the game for quite a few years.

It looks to be good work type system, and would run games if you don't do anything too high end. The video is not up to what the cutting edge games are going to want. I don't see any mention of an AGP slot so you may not be able to add a higher quality video card later.
I agree, I'd double the ram at a minimum.
It looks to be a good machine for the price.

That's not a bad system. The Pentium D (PD) was the in between step on the Intel processors - it's better than a Pentium 4 and not quite a true Core Duo. Upgrade the RAM (I always recommend a minimum of 1GB of RAM) and it'll purr quite contentedly for a few years to come. A memory upgrade shouldn't cost you more than $50-$100 (depending on if the slots are already full or if you can just pop a new stick into an empty slot).
If you ever wanted to upgrade the video, you'd be stuck with a PCI video card which are getter rare these days. It really would depend on what type of game you're wanting to play on it.

im not a hard core gamer but i like playin online games on some of the sites and wouldent mind trying some disc games a friend sent me -- it says it will hold a max 4 gb of mem and theres 2 slots open to add - so im thinkin id be safe for awile but i have no idea what half the stuff is they list haha -- can i add the wireless set up that i have on this one im useing, its kinda like a card ya pop one of the plates on the back and it screws in after ya push it into the socket inside ?

Yup - you could add your wireless card in and one more card if you needed to (the video card if you needed an upgrade).
Online games should work just fine on that one. The disc games should work okay if they're older and you get more memory. If there's two slots open to add, I'd pick up another 1GB stick - or a pair of 512s. Memory has really dropped in price recently.
Newer games (say, 2007 or newer) would need a better video card.

I wouldn't go above 2GB on it. You have to do some tweaking of the boot file to get Windows XP to recognize over 2GB of memory.

sands....if it aint to late hang tight....let me do some siphering.....jethro talk ;D.
as ark said....that system has no ability to run more than 2 gig of memory....even vista doesnt have the ability to run more than 3 gig....unless you are running a high end system in 64 bit....and thats up there....hang tight if possibble...kev.

john....cp and me spent some time earlier going over this a little bit...mostly cp ;D......but your in a pickle ;D. the system you are looking at...as ark said....will only run games from before early 2007....and only borderline for some before that. it will not even come close to running a game such as this 1 released in november of 2007 en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crysis so if you go and buy a new game...probably not gonna run it. there is a kicker to the link below....it has no operating system....such as XP....but it has enough of the goodies to run a game such as crysis....which is video intensive....but may not run games coming out in the next year....crazy huh ;D....but is fully upgradeable later on....the 1 you are looking doesnt seem to be. www.shopl2.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=GLVL1&Show=TechSpecs thats a good deal for someone that would like to play games...its a 140 bucks more...less an operating system.....thats the kicker....but maybe someone can help with that also. so ....you are in a pickle as i said before ;D...depending on if someone can help with an xp operating system ....the extra 140 bucks would offset any upgrades you needed to make to the other one....you gotta make no upgrades for a while with the system above....so cp says ;D....kev.

hey john....cp is is going crazy that you bought that macjine....he was going to give you the difference between prices from his stash....he hates to see anybody get hosed ;D....not that you are by any means.....just the gaming part. ;D
he told me he hated for you to buy an HP system.....its loaded with junk that eats up resources ....straight from HP.
i aint sure about all he says ;D....but he did say....just let him know when you cant run a game.....and he will try to help you tweek the bios to run a game....if possible.
he said to mention that he has a mark3d score of over 19000 for his system....you will have about 2000 with that system.....the system he recommended....maybe 6000....which is good....but this just applies to games....and there ability to play on that system.
i aint even sure why im posting about this.....maybe because he hates you bought that unit....and i gotta hear about it....or gas is to high......or the circus is in town....shoot i dont know....kev.
