Yep, 15 minutes. No matter how big or small the cabs are, each one takes 15 minutes. Congrats on the Genie, you'll never get bored with it. After a while you probably won't even using dopping sticks, I stopped using them months ago. It's easy to grind on these without ever touching the wheel.

Congratulations!! Nice machine. Cabbing is So much fun using a Genie. Your cabs look good and I see you have a nice supply dopped and ready to cut. Just wondering what way are you facing your spritzers (little hole up or big hole?). I had the big hole up and my wife found out they are supposed to go the other way.

Alright! I hesitate to give tips to the Apostle,but:1. I see you have pads fof the end of wheels. After 14,000 you might try 50,000 or 100,000 diamond paste,sub-micron A.O. mixed with mineral oil or M-5[my favorite] and see if you can get any more shine.Do part of a cab and compare.2.I always use both bubblers under a wheel, slightly offset-can't prove it helps.3.I don't know if Genie pans will rust, but my Lortones will so I spray in a little rust inhibitor on occasion.4.if you rest your hand or arms on the edge of the pan,it will hurt. You can get firm foam rubber in cylinders and just make a slit and pop it onto the edge. This is sold as swim aids for children and as pipe insulation.Mike.

Why's it so clean?
I'm jealous! Remember to change the water from the pan after each wheel - I'm very jealous looks like you got lots to work with thoo!

Change the water after each wheel? Really? I think you should cuz you're recycling the water back unto the wheels & cabs - could cross contaminate - specially on the left side you don't want to contaminate the wheels it only takes a minute - this is what I was told - sounds plausible

You should really enjoy your Genie. Nice cabs.
I only change the water when I go to a different set if wheels. I start with 80,220,280. I do two passes through the set; shaping and then doming. I then change the water for 600/1200 and then again for 8,000 and 14,000.
I have never had any contamination problems. I also use a 50,000 and 100,000 canvas pad. I wipe off the cabs throroughly when I go from 50,000 to 100,000 diamond paste. There is paste on the cabs and I don't want to spread the 50,000 onto the 100,000.
I also use both sprayers under the wheel I am cutting. More water seems to result in faster cutting.

Damnit, i'm so jealous now Sheri! First, I need to find a place to live where I can actually set up a lapidary workshop before I get too carried away buying any more equipment though.

FYI!!! Great News!! I had to call Diamond Pacific and ask them about a possible oil leak (which I found out is normal for awhile). While I had one of the technicians on the phone, I asked him about changing out the water. He said that there is no need. He works with a Titan and said the wheels are so hard that anything that gets on them will be thrown right off. He doesn't change his water until the gunk builds up on the gyser! lol He has been doing this for several years. That is good news for me!

Diamond wheels don't shed like S/C so there isn't a problem with contamination.

I'm glad to hear that about changing the trays after each wheel use. After reading Tweet's comment, I thought I had been doing wrong. I guess it wouldn't hurt to do a bunch of cabs on one wheel, changing water, going to the next, and so on. If I had to change water after every wheel use, I doubt I'd get much done. Thanks for posting the info. Steve

Amazing what you can get out of a lantern nowadays, used to be some dodgy geezer who'd offer you 3 wishes! Yeah I know I'm talking carp,
Looks like a lot of fun and what a workspace, that is one piece of kit, the cabs are amazing, 15 minutes each, I could do with some of that.
Now I know what I have to do, I'll tell the mrs I'm buying some diamonds.
