I just ordered one of these jumpring makers and will report back in a reply when I've used it . It is essentiallly a slotted fixture that holds a coil.It has an arbor-guide that you attach to a Dremel,Proxxon or Foredom[different models for each] . So you run this along the slot and walla, jumprings. It is supposed to make rings comparable to those cut with a jeweler's saw,but much faster.I estimated that even with 14 gauge it would make about 50 at a time. The maker,Dave Arens, does not have a website. There are sites that talk about it but I had "technical difficulties" reaching them directly, but I could Dogpile koil kutter to see them. Mr. Arens 'phone in Tucson is 1-520-749-2413.He is a retired machinist and also runs the saw room at his lapidary club and he is great to talk with. If you already make your own coils, then all you need is the Koiler itself-this is $70-that's way cheaper than the Jumpringer etc.He does, however, also sell a hand powered coiler and nice sets of mandrels of the right length for the holding fixture. All in all, this sounds like a good deal.Mike.

Looks like a good tool to use. tinyurl.com/2tvull I'll have to see if he'll ship iternationally. If not I'll have to find someone this side of the pond who'll make one. Simon

I just love my Koil Kutter. When I first got it from Dave it wouldn't work good, I really had troubles with it cutting my coils (I'm doing also chainmail jewelry so cutting my coils is essential to me). Until I realised that the problem was in the saw blade. I replaced it, and it then cut through silver like through butter. Dave found out about it (posted in a jewelry forum) and immediately he sent me (all the way to Europe) a new replacement blade, because his original one was defect. I can't recommend him and the KK highly enough. Just love this toy *grins*. Oups Simon, just saw now your reply, after I posted mine. Yes he does ship internationally, I'm a living proof of it, he sent it all the way to Cyprus via airmail post He's sending over the world, I have several friends in the UK and in Australia who currently own a KK.

I got it !Delivery was fast, two days via USPS.I'm very impresed with the build quality-it is what you would expect from a machinist[my Dad was one.].The instructions are complete and easy to read.He even has many good tips, such a how to make a simple cheap clamp to help guide non-round wire onto the mandrel. I am waiting for some wire and will report results later.Mike.

I have one. It is one of the most popular Jump Ring makers online. Dave Arens is a dream to deal with. Keep in mind that the tool is only able to cut soft metals such as sterling, gold filled, copper etc. It is not made to cut strong metals such as galvanized and stainless steel. Even aluminum can be iffy depending on the gauge. This info came from Dave himself.
