Well an awful lot of the states wildlands have been on fire for more than a week now, here by the coast it isn't too bad, but the smoke is there and its not helping anyone with asthma or any other respiratory ailments. In the Central Valley (Sacramento and such) the smoke has been REALLY bad, terrible air quality and limited visibility.
I understand that a few of these fires are still threatening homes and buildings, not a good way to start the fire season.

Let's see, there was fire to the East, three weeks later a fire to the West and a week later one to the South. All of fires were within about 10 miles!
The West fire, the Martin fire was only a ridge away from my house. The first day, the fire was a bit scary, looked like a nuclear bomb went off. I get home and my wife had pulled out the security box, her jewelry box and some boxes of paper. Luckily, they got the fire under control pretty quick. The day after the fire started, my son had his graduation ceremony from elementary school. I took the day off to watch the ceremony, I kept peeking up the ridge! The sky was blue, but after awhile you could see a plume of smoke building up!
Needless to say, we didn't light any fireworks this year!

Yes, air was bad here in the Central Valley last week. We were warned to stay inside. It looked like an overcast day in the Fall, but it was all smoke. I didn't see any blue in the sky until Friday night.
Glad you're okay RedwoodRocks!

For those of us living in a big city, the worst problem we're having is the smoke filled air. On June 13th, the weather pattern we had made all the smoke from the Big Sur fires settle over the Bay Area, and it was eerie! Here are some photos I took looking west at about 6PM. A little later. Looking south west The bright area off in the distance is just outside the valley I live in and over the ocean. Every morning we wake up to an orange sun and I looked outside at the moon last night at midnight, and it too was orange. I'll try to get a photo tonight.

Tony's okay, he lives in the same big city as me. I heard from one of my customers who lives in Chico, which is a couple hunderd miles north where the biggest fires are burning, and she said it's been snowing ash up there for weeks now and people aren't going out shopping because of the smoke and ash, so she hasn't been selling much locally. That and the gas prices. They said on the news last night that 10 years ago it cost $44 million annually to fight the wildfires; so far this year it's cost almost $400 million.

That came in on the south winds Don`t ask for Picture`s it` bad. Salem had a dark red Sun set. Like the ones from the Hawaii eruption in1967 and ash plume blew in along the coast line.
