Well, I guess I'm living up to my namesake, either stoner or stones in motion. I had some severe lower back pain problems over the past 3-4 weeks, and found out I have kidney stones! There is one cluster of stones that totals 2.1x1.7cm, and a separate stone that is 1.1cm in my right kidney. I'm going in on Monday for what's called Lithotripsy Treatment, where they use high energy pressure waves to pulverize the stones so I can pass them. If all goes well, this should be over in less than a week. Wish me luck!

Ask the Dr if you can have them. Maybe they'll be cab-able.

Ugh! I sympathize with you, Stoner. Been there, done that... twice! The last one was a killer... my doctor decided I could pass it ok without having it pulverized. Oh yeah, I could pass it.. but only after going to the emergency room the day before it passed, with pain so bad they had to give me demerol. Anyway, there was no greater feeling in the world than seeing that it had passed and the episode was over. I have a couple of friends who went through what you have planned and it is no biggie. Good luck and I hope you get past this quickly!

Good Luck, Ed. I hope they pass like tiny sands through the hourglass of Life...smoothly and painlessly!
Sending good thoughts and prayers!

Those are some big stones; sure you don't want to try and pass them without pulverizing them; could make some nice beads . Seriously; my Dad had that done a couple times; its not to bad and it comes out like a sand. He passed one long ago without pulverizing it; lets just say he'll never do that again.

I feel for ya Ed and mine were not quite that big. After they break them up it is still going to feel like you are passing broken glass but after they are through the feeling is better than any sex you have ever had.

Ed, wish you tons of luck with this. My friend went through it. They pulverized it so well that he did not even notice the passing of it. It was only after going back to the doc that it was confirmed that it had passed.
I hope it is the same in your case.

Too bad they have to pulverize the stones, I'm sure you could have made some awesome cabs from them! ;D They would have been entirely MADE by you.
Good luck! Have a quick and easy recovery!

Thanks everyone. I've gone through this procedure before as well. Back in 2003 I had a 2.8x3.2cm stone that had fingers growing off it. They first went in through my side with a laser to break it up and then remove it. There were major complications and they couldn't get it all out, and I was in the hospital for a week. Then a couple of months later I went in for the lithsotripy treatment and I was passing 1/4" stones! There had been a stent between my kidney and bladder for a couple of months, so when they removed that, all my passages were wide open and I didn't even feel the stones passing. I've got a customer on etsy who said she'd set the stone if I got it cabbed!

Damn, this makes me weak-kneed just thinking about it. Hope it's nowhere like what my imagination has running through it. Crap, I think I'd be tempted to buy an anatomy book, get reaaaaalllllyyyyy drunk, and try cutting it out myself! (j/k). Best wishes on an easy stone passing!! -Don

Hey Stoner! Been there ,not the same treatment but the pain is the same.I had to wear that stupid tube and bag for about 10 days.I try to keep my bladder and kidneys cleaner by cutting back on the coffee and drinking a LOT of bottled water {like 10 a day} that keeps the blood clots from turning to stones......................Rocky
