I was given a large bag of green silicon carbide #1500 grit. This size was to be used on wafers. Has anyone used this fine of grit in tumbling? Would it be any use between the 400 and polish stage. Thanks Arne

Hmmm. It might be of use as a pre-polish. I've always heard that one of the reasons AO works so well is it has no sharp edges unlike SiC. It would be interesting to see what a batch would look like after going from 400 to 1500...

Interesting question. I am thinking probably not as I think it would leave scratches to deep to be taken out by a 50,000 polish but if you are are willing to experiment on a small batch I sure would be happy to hear and see the results. ;D

I use 1200g SC in Lot-O vibe sometimes as a pre-polish with soft stones or apache tears. Not really needed for hard agate.

I had a batch come out of the 400 grit. I took some pictures and now for a week I'll try the 1500. I'll post the results in a week. Since I was given a 50lb bag I've got to try it. Arne
