I started out yesterday with 12 slab pieces to make into cabs, I got 11 done without breaking beyond repair, one didn't survive. I was going to post pics yesterday, but after i took the pics I noticed that there were little scratches in several of the cabs, so this afternoon I refinished all of them, they look much better today!! (Next time I need to pay more attention to the dust though, it really shows up) A group shot My favorite out of the bunch, a chunk of Bruneau. This was the hardest one to get all the scratches out of because of the flat section on top. Its a piece of Carnilian that Sands sent me. Brazilian And another brazilian, kind of looks like a rainbow. A piece of white fir springs geode A local agate from around here, not sure what to call it A jasper saw scrap, not sure where from This came out of a mine from the Challis area, the whole mine tunnel is made of this stuff. My wifes' favorite, a piece of Rocky Butte Wascoite A piece of dendridic agate, local material. Thanks for lookin.........................Tony

These all look wonderful and I especially like that local agate of yours! That mine rock is really neat also! Was it soft or about a MOH 7? Just asking since it is the mine walls and sometimes they have a lot of soft minerals. Was it very hard to get a shine? Fran

Fran, thanks for the compliment. I would guess the mine wall rock is about a 6, it has some softer spots in it, but it took a shine pretty easy. If you want some of my local agate just submit an adoption application, I have some up for adoption at this time.

Brian, Thanks. No, the wascoite is petrified mud layers from a old lake bottom, comes from Wasco Oregon.

Tony, they are beautiful! I love the cab from the Chalis Mine. I love the Wascoite. I have never seen that before. The pattern in the Bruneau is just wonderful. Great work!
