"Obama is a Socialist"
What do the self proclaimed Socialists say about that claim?
F.N. Brill, National Secretary of the World Socialist Party (US): “Obama is as much a socialist as the Pope is an atheist. Income redistribution isn't a socialist act."
David Schaich, Socialist Party Campaign Clearinghouse Coordinator: “The idea that Barack Obama is socialist, or quasi-socialist, or semi-socialist, or socialist-light, or anything of the sort, is far-right nonsense."
I think it's pretty safe to say that Obama is not a Socialist at least according to the Socialists definition of Socialism. Of course we all know that in the politician's playbook, "Socialist" is code for "Communist" and the label is just dirty politics on the part of McCain's campaign.
I find it interesting that the reason so many have labeled Obama a Socialist is due to his Tax relief plan for the Middle class. If we apply the same "logic" to McCain's voting record then he should be labeled as a Socialist as well.
McCain actually voted against Bush’s tax cuts in 2001. “I cannot in good conscience support a tax cut in which so many of the benefits go to the most fortunate among us, at the expense of middle-class Americans who most need tax relief.”
...sound familiar? Maybe this is why most conservatives avoid talking about McCain's record when "discussing" the election.
Socialism? Seriously... should we get rid of Social Security? Should we get rid of Medicare? Those are government programs for which no one can be turned away, so does that mean those who receive such benefits are card-carrying socialists?
Ask yourselves... given the current state of the economy... what if Social Security had been privatized?
The federal government provides huge subsidies to oil and gas companies that aren’t offered to mom and pop businesses. Is that socialism?

WHAT? ? It's the most basic part of Socialism. I have a serious question for Socialist or if you think Hussien isn't a Socialist, then Obamaist. Not trying to be nasty or smart, this is a real question that deserves a real answer. Why do you think you deserve something that you haven't earned? I have very little....A house and a couple of automobiles. No stocks, no nothing. But My wife and I have earned what we have. I'm happy with that and proud of what we have accomplished. I don't need a rich man's money to make me happy. Curt

How many of you realize that our good neighbors to the north cannot watch Fox News? The government will not allow them to receive it.
Whether you like Fox or not is not the point. The point is do you want this kind of government?

The desperation that the Republicans are feeling is a mighty heavy burden these days. When Bush was elected in Y2K it seemed the Republicans would be in power for the next 30 years...and in fact, they should have been. Unfortunately, they have screwed John Q Public too many times and most people just cannot take it anymore. The prosperity of the 90s has given way to the desperation of this decade. Most people are sliding backwards and everytime the republicans cut taxes we are worse off than we were before. Giving a pittance to the middle class and huge benefits to the wealthy has worked against the best interests of this country. Helping out your buddies and special interests and lobbyists is a failed recipe for success. Fortunately some people are seeing past the failed policies of the past decade. The lies and proxy attacks against Kerry and Gore are not working so well this time around. People are wising up, thank God. I am a middle of the road independent who sees the need for a shift in US policies. The uberrich are not patriotic and are not helping the Average Joe out there. We need to elect people who will help the middle class get out of the funk affecting this country and most of the world. We dont want to end up like those countries where there is no middle class, only the uberrich and the uberpoor and that is where we are currently headed. We need a more level playing field and we need change; We need to get out of Iraq and spend that money at home for Americans or use it to pay down the debt. We need to revitalize our education ( and maybe our election) system. We need to look at lots of our institutions and we need change.
Let's throw out these scoundrels and make a fresh start for a greater America

I am saddened by the fact that the first election where we will make history with either the first African-American or woman to be chosen for our highest offices, that such a divisive climate has to be the setting. As I am not thrilled with McCain, I was going to sit this one out so the left could have their chance to prove us conservatives wrong. It is the direct threat to the rights I cherish, and the fear that Obama will not protect us that I am voting for McCain.

Curt.. not ignoring you bud.. I just think that the Socialist claim is a Red Herring... along with the other accusations of being a non-citizen Muslim w/terrorist ties.... it's just not true.. the same as saying that "big-city folk" aren't patriotic.... not true! That kind of talk is just hateful and has nothing to do with the candidates or the real issues. They might as well be saying that no one should vote for Obama because his middle name is Hussein.... and that is their right to say. But unfortunately there is no response to an argument like that... I just felt it was necessary to correct some of the mis-information that has been circulating... especially the Anti-Christ stuff..... wow... So I suppose that we can just agree to disagree...

So...I'm sure everyone here's heard the Howard Stern piece, right?
And that's one of my biggest problems with Obama.

Texaswoodie: “Ignore the old fart and eventually he'll go away.” Wrong, Curt. ;D That pathetic excuse of a candidate (in 2008) will still be (R) AZ.
Blarneystone mentioned codewords before. They don’t get any easier to decode than calling Obama a Muslim.

There is no mention of the Anti-Christ in the book of Revelations. The Gospel of John does mention the Anti-Christ(s) but no description is offered. Please pass the Kool-Aid.... This is true, one of the few emails that I forgot to research. I check out all of my emails on Snopes.com, this one must have slipped through the cracks. Oh well....

So...I'm sure everyone here's heard the Howard Stern piece, right? And that's one of my biggest problems with Obama. hmmm... not sure that I get your point here Ronda. You have a problem with Obama because some black people are voting for him simply because he is black? I would think that the reverse is true also... some white people are only voting for McCain simply because he is white (not black). I think that Colin Powel's endorsement of Obama should be a clear indication that the Senator is not a commie or a friend to terrorists. Or did Powel endorse Obama simply because he is black? Maybe the other ranking military officers that endorsed Obama did so because Colin Powel is black? ;D

Maybe the other ranking military officers that endorsed Obama did so because Colin Powel is black? ;D Actually, Colin Powell endorsed Obama (in his own words) because he didn't like the negative turn McCain's campaign took in the last few weeks and because he didn't like Palin as VP nominee. *shrug* Nothing to do with issues, nothing to do with ethnicity...and I personally think it's a cop-out. And yes, I have a problem with the fact that the majority of blacks/African Americans/whatever you want to call them are voting for him simply because of his ethnicity. It's not my only problem with him, but it is one of them. I also accept that there are some whites that will not be voting for him for the same reason, but I don't think the percentages even compare. I personally know quite a few people who are voting for him simply because his run is "historic" rather than his policies. That's all well and good, but what about once he's in office? Elections should have nothing to do with color of skin, the person's sex, or the person's religion. While there were women routing for Hillary simply because she's female, it wasn't the primary reason most supporters were routing for her.

its kinda hard not to see it as race drivin votes and endorsements -- ya got Oprah - Colin p. - Farrakhan -wright - for endorsements --- then theres every black person on welfare or that thinks they will get more for doing nothing when he takes the money from the people that have earned it buy taxing them and giving it to people that like 40% of don't even pay tax's or work-- yes id like to see SS. get alot of help but to the people that have been lied to there whole lives and taxed and paid for it to be here when they retired -- but people like obama want to give it to illegals and lifetime welfare suck-ups -- and that just ain't right and i don't think anybody can say it is -- id rather the rich stay rich and everybody that has the drive to make more money do so and keep it after all they did earn it. thats the American way --- and I'm not talkin about the wall-street crooks and there buddies that have lied and cheated to take from the little guy they need serious time in jail
i just watched that Howard stern clip and the three people that where interviewed had no idea what obama is about two of them said they didn't mind that palin was gonna be VP if obama won haha --- all they see is dollar signs if he wins with more handouts for the lazy and the crooked

I read these pages and felt compelled to say that no matter who wins the election God is still in control and always will be. Psalm 46 reads: God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. The heathen raged, the kingdoms were moved: he uttered his voice, the earth melted. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah. Come, behold the works of the LORD, what desolations he hath made in the earth. He maketh wars to cease unto the end of the earth; he breaketh the bow, and cutteth the spear in sunder; he burneth the chariot in the fire. Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. The LORD of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah.
If you are a believer as I, than eternal life does not at death or the end of days. It started when you allowed Christ into your heart.
john
