Yep... that's what I'm talking about, Mr Fingers. It seems that many Republicans can't discuss the election without resorting to insults and name calling and you are obviously no exception. Saying things like "what grade are you in?" just tells me that you're not capable of debating the issues in a rational manner. You're not worth my time brother....

Dear Blarney, Sorry, not a Republican. I shall wear your scorn as a badge of honor. Cheers.

Vote for McCain if you want FOUR MORE YEARS OF BUSH!
Hahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
He's destroyed America's image, lost the war in Iraq, ignored flood victims, tortured prisoners, refused to abide by the Geneva conventions, wrecked your economy, and sold his soul to banks and big business.
Four more years! Four more years! Four more years!
Hahahahahahahahaha!

Thank heavens we only have to listen to another week of this. I'm an independent but tend to lean more towards the liberal side. I am one of those wastoids who got to go to college while the government footed the bill. This was back in the 70's when we had those horrible liberal things called education grants. Unfortunately I wasted that government paid education by working for the same company for 25 years and sending myself to further my education. In addition, I plan to keep wasting that government handout by buying the company I work for. But please don't call me Joe the plumber. That guy is a moron.
Before the election I really liked McCain and the way he tried to cross party lines to get things done. However, since the republican political machine tried to remake him my opinion has significantly dropped. So much so that I will no longer be voting for him. I wanted the Sen. McCain of old not the republican toadie he has become. He is no longer the maverick he once was. That said I am not voting for Obama either. He is way too inexperienced in my opinion and I don't like some of his policies. Although I have to say he is a much better speaker than McCain and comes off better during interviews.
I figure I'm screwed either way. McCain will tax me and give my money to rich corporations and Obama will tax me and give it to the poor. Either way I'm screwed but I'm a people oriented person rather than a money oriented person so I'd rather the money went to help a homeless person rather than pork for some corporation.
Who am I voting for? Good question. Out of the 40 some people running for president I can only vote for 4 here in PA. McCain, Obama, Nader and Barr the Libertarian. I've never voted libertarian before but I'm 90% sure that is where my vote is going this election.
So now that I have posted myself on the fence I expect to be pelted by both sides. However, to be quite honest the conservatives here have been way nastier than the liberals.

Why waste your vote? Give Obama a chance. It's time for a new generation to take the reins.
It's not like he could ruin America any worse than Bush/McCain have in the last 8 years, right?

Actually I don't think its wasting a vote. I've never been a big fan of the two party system and like the idea of a viable third party. We will never have that if we just resign ourselves to picking the lesser of two evils. I agree that Bush has done a terrible job and McCain hasn't shown himself to be a much different candidate. However, that doesn't mean I should vote for someone I don't really agree with or like does it? I certainly hope not.

I know, the two-party system and the cash required to get into the game kind of sucks... but on the other hand, there's a fair number of 15 party systems out there and it gets kind of silly.
Nobody will ever agree totally with the policies of any candidate, except for mindless Republican drones like Joe the Unlicensed Plumber. A vote for Obama is such a powerful, and wonderful thing. You cannot throw away the chance to redeem your country in the eyes of the world. Everybody is watching you. This election is a revolution for America. I'm just totally thrilled that a smart, young black man might win. He's a cool guy. His wife is amazing. His life story is amazing. The time for change is now!
McCain/Palin are bigger hawks than Bush, and they will happily burn through your economy in a futile, fake war on terror. China will buy up the pieces in a heartbeat. More war, more horror, more spy cameras, more secret service men listening to your phone calls... Orwell's 1984 is coming true.
At some point, good people have to step up and say enough is enough. The rich do not need to get any richer. America cannot survive another four years of egomaniacal madness. Just say no to Bush/McCain. Obama is a new generation; vote for him before it's too late.
Sincerely,
SirRoxalot

Well SirRoxalot I'm not sure that voting for Obama will cause any earth shattering changes, he is only the president and there are some checks and balances in the system, like congress for example. I believe he will win even without my vote but I don't feel he deserves my vote. McCain must think Obama will win too since he has been in panic mode the last week or two.

Tony, I'm there with you 80% of the way. I'm center, lean right, and I really like McCain the Maverick. I would vote for McCain the Maverick in a heartbeat. The re-invented, nastier Republican McCain made me pause momentarily.
I also think it's time that the two-party system was shook up just a bit. The US for all intents and purposes has always been a two-party system, but the second party has changed as the years progressed. And now there are very few people who actually work toward their party goals (fiscal conservative, small government does NOT equal $700 billion bailout + additional federal oversight).
Obama and a Democratic Congress (remember those checks and balances you just mentioned?) is repugnant to me. It would only last two years, but those two years would be more than enough to cement some programs in place that the majority of the country (which statistically is center, leaning right) would not support. And the time it would take to undo those bills could be better spent fixing other things.
(And this board might have more viscious Republicans, but you don't want to see the attacks I've come under on other boards for supporting McCain. The ugliness goes both ways.)
Oh - I really resent the drone comment. Intelligent people do vote Republican as well. It's being made out that only redneck, illiterate, racist, country bumpkins will be voting for McCain...and it's because they just don't know better. Please. And that's the polite way of phrasing how I've been attacked.

i think you got the right idea tony -- i never realy thought highly of ether obam or McCain -- i do like McCain better then obama but if there was a third person i liked better i would prob go with them -- in the beginning i rely liked what Romney had to say he was all for closing the borders and gettin America on track again but he just disappeared

Yeah, that third option sounds great . . . until Ralph Nader’s name is on the ballot. Then he gets treated like a “Muslim terrorist”.

I hear people say the rich are getting richer...let me ask...How much is rich...?
It's a silly and stupid statement...without the the wealth of others the poor would not survive. Take away a mans wealth today he will always find a way to get it back...
Wealth or being rich as I said before is only in the figment of your mind...I'll prove it...
To a beggar on the street a grand a month is being rich, yet it is only $12,000 a year...another example... let's take a football player that is making $250,000 a year to many people he is rich...but to his fellow players he is playing on a beggars salary...or baskball player making $750,000 a year is just one step away from the slum district...
It is all relevant...mostly it's tied to the company and friends you keep and pal with...If you hit the 5 million lottery...guaranteed you would lose all your friends even if you don't personally change...and that is a true fact of life..
Obama is using the "rich vs poor" game like Jessie Jackson uses the "white vs black" card...
Yep, you will only be as "rich" as your friends are...so quit crying about it... Do something about it rather than complaining...get in there change the laws let your voice be heard...you got a better idea than the next guy...? well, it's a free country give it a shot...
