donna has to have a hysterectomy on the 18th of next month....just got the news today.
it has to be done the hard way.....she had a tubelar pregnancy 18 years ago.....and the scar tissue prevents it from being done the easy way....what ever that is.
how bad is this really gonna be?....doc says 4 or 5 days in hospital....then 6 weeks from then she should be o.k. sound right?
shes 38.....doc says no choice....it gotta be done....kev.

The #1 thing I would say is ===take time to recover and don't push it to get back to work. The 6 weeks sounds right but rember not everyone is the same and some needs more time than others. The easy way would be not cutting on the outside. The way they will have to go will be cutting just under where a 2 piece bathing suit goes. They have come a long ways these days, when I had mine done 33 years ago the cut was much bigger. I'm thinking that it sounds like she has a good guy that will be there for her and a lot of support. BTW she may need to take something to replace the normal estrigen that a womans body makes and if so she should never stop without the Dr. saying so. If I can help answer anything more just let me know. abigger@charter.net

Been there done that. Cul-Ann is right on target. Donna may feel like she can do anything she wants within a week or so, but don't! REST! If she over does it, it could be bad. She'll need to heal for several weeks. I had one at 34, now 47. The hard way too. Haven't missed that monthly friend one bit! Hormones may get upside down for a while, but stay on the meds the doc gives and she'll be fine. Tell her not to fret or worry, she'll be happy when it's over. Tonja

DEFINITELY take the time to recover and dont push it. I am 33 years old and I had to have a hysterectomy 3 years ago. What I mostly remember was extreme fatigue for weeks after the surgery. Even the most minor task felt like I had run a marathon.

Kev, my wife had one 6 weeks ago and the one thing she has used the most that I got her was The Gopher. If she droped something it had to stay there until somebody came by to pick it up. It is a pick up tool with a handle and she uses it all the time. If I try to use it I get yelled at.Walmart sells them for 10.00 . Also tell her to take the pain meds. as soon as she starts hurting dont wait. Kathy went back to work part time at 4 weeks but she just sits at a computor and can get up and move around when she needs to. She still has trouple bending but is getting better. I hope everything goes great. Keith

we only know 1 person that had a hysterectomy.....but they had back surgery at the same time.....they said there back hurt so bad....that the hysterectomy was a breeze.....they dont remember pain from it ;D.
