This past Saturday I had the pleasure of meeting up with Mr and Mrs Banjocreek (and Hobbs the wonder dog!) for a rock hunt up on the Verde. It was just a gorgeous day to be out, and a real treat to spend some time with them. Here's a few pics from the trip.
On the way in and near the end of the road we ran into a rancher, his kids and dogs herding some horses lol
Mr & Mrs Banjo and Hobbs
After the hike down (which is sooo much shorter than the hike out lol) the spot on the Verde. Fall is in the air!
We spent several hours down there looking around and getting to know each other. I think Hobbs picked up just about every burr down there lol. Great people and a great time. If you haven't had a chance to visit their site I recommend it highly www.banjo-creek.com They make beautiful cabs and custom jewelry and have a wonderful tumbling tutorial!
After getting our 'agate eyes' on we came across some pretty nice material. One biggie I found was a real bear to pack out. When we got back to the trucks we shot the breeze a bit and then headed on out. I really had a blast
Here's a shot on the way out over looking the Verde Valley with the red rocks of Sedona in the background and The San Fransisco Peaks of Flagstaff beyond.
Here's a few nice rocks they brought along and gave to me, some Burro Creek, Maricopa and Picture Jasper
Nice dendrites on the one Burro Creek
And my haul from the Verde
Some pretty purple agate
And a couple faces of that big mother chicken I lugged out of there
That's it, thanks a bunch for looking!
