I usually have a dozen or so rock sitting on dop sticks ( pieces of dowels) and lately I have been bothered by the rock falling of the stick while I am working the rock. at first I thought it was just old wax as I think it was over 10 yrs old so I got some new wax, but I am still being bothered by this. perhaps 3 or 4 times out of 18 dops. any ideas as this is driving me crazy. I am using green wax. I am trying to get ready for a show the first weekend in Dec. so am quite busy. Thanks

it is usually about 50 when I back the car out in the morning but when I am working I usually have it about 64 (usually 2 hrs or so a night) almost every night. In a few days I am going to put my temporary walls back up and have the cabbing area at 64 all the time.

Get the cab real hot, get the dop wax real hot; warm the dopped cab with warm water before starting the cabbing activities, warm the water that you use on the wheels. Dopped cabs don't like temperature changes (particularly going colder) or cold temperatures. Bob

( Red Dop Wax ) add a bit of real Bee`s wax to the dop pot. as the dop wax ages, this well keep it sticky and bonding better.

I has a similar problem last year - I solved it by moving my dopping station inside. I would take my dopped pieces outside to cab, then bring them back in when I had finished for the night.

couple of years ago I had moved my grinders inside the basement but it made to much mess and noise. I didn't realize that the dop wax was that temperature sensitive. I think that I will warm the doped material up and use warm water for the spritzers. now all I have to do is get a sucker deal to remove the cold water from the trays so I can replace it with warm water. The warm water might feel nice on my arthritic fingers

Tonight I sucked out as much water as I could and wiped the rest of the gunk out of the trays (they needed cleaning anyway) with paper towels and filled them with hot water from the tap. I put a couple of doped rocks in the water to warm up and started the machine. the water spray was still a little cool coming off of the wheels but not to bad, so I started to cab and the rock still came off the dops grrrrrrrr. Sat. morning I have a vehicle to detail and then in the afternoon I will be reassembling my enclosure and getting the space heater going and warming it up to 65 and am going to leave it there.

Warren: I feel for you buddy, it is the most frustrating thing. People have given some good advice on here so I guess we keep trying until we find what works with our surroundings, I feel your pain!!!

I have my cab room up and is now at 70 degrees. the cabs will still pop off but only once in awhile. I think I will replace the dop wax hopefully with newer wax and see what happens then
