I don't see many cabs cut from this stuff... I suppose that's because it's suitable for faceting.... anyway... Got some wonderful material from a DRH member.... Cut a couple of cabs from it so far... I actually polished the back of this cab so when the light hits it just right you get a nice glow from inside... I found this material a real pleasure to work with.. Thanks for lookin' Dan

Some think Rose quartz is just cheap material, but I think it is always beautiful and it shines up so nice, I like the cabs.

i've cabbed it before: it's really hard to find this material without a lot of internal fractures, your cabs are flawless and very nice. KD

I agree with KD. I have never found a very good piece. You found some great material and did a beautiful job! john

Dan, Great job! Does it show any evidence of a star? A lot of this material especially that from Madagascar does. Bob

I have some but it's not facet grade. Those cabs are awesome.

Nicely done! I went mining for some a few weeks ago, and even busting up boulders all day, I was hard pressed to get lots of clear material. To star it they say to roughly round it up and find the star before you dome it and flatten the back. I've done a few but not found a star, or gotten as nice a result as you did! Tony

Very nice Dan. I've cabbed a piece of TonyW's. It was the only piece I had without fractures. I can't get nearly as nice a shine on quartz as you do though.

Nice, Dan! I have a bunch of pieces around, but never gave any thought into seeing if it was without fractures enough to bother cabbing. Those cabs came out really, really nice. I love it when the stone lights up.

nice clarity on those cabs. Perfect polish and no fractures. They look really nice.

Great job! You have some really clean material. I have heard that sunlight will fade out the color over time. Anybody know if that's true?

Thanks for all the great comments folks and thanks again Marcy for sending the quartz. It really is amazing stuff!
Stonewizard - there is an article in the latest Rock & Gem on that very same topic... how some materials will fade after long exposure to the sun... it's definitely true.
