I got to cab a little bit last weekend. Here are the results. Nothing really spectacular. My pics are getting bad now that the good sun is gone. I'll have to re-examine my photo process. I'm also starting to get upset with photobucket, they have changed their site and now the Foxfire browser doesn't work right. Blasted Microsoft must have gotten to them. Mahogany obsidain. This one flashes gold so maybe its gold sheen obsidian. I don't know the difference. Thanks to Adrian for the shape. I saw him do this one a few times and liked it. 1 1/2" long by 3/4" wide. This is a stone that Sitnwrap sent to me. She found it when they dug up the beach in her town. Its a pretty stone and takes a decent shine. I have no idea what it is. 1 1/2" long by 7/8" wide. OB. Opal-less boulder. I crack myself up. No flash at all in this small one. 7/8" tall by 5/8" wide. Blue lace agate. This came from a very thin vein. I managed to slice the piece in half. I chose to use the outside crusted face as the top in this one. That explains the browny spots but it did give an interesting pattern. 1 5/8" tall by 3/4" wide. Green adventurine. The mica in this one was in layers rather than random. Under a bright light the mica flashes. 1 1/4" tall by 1 1/8" wide. Rhodonite. If you like hot pink this is the one for you. 1 3/8" tall by 7/8" wide.

Great job Tony. I got a chuckle out of the Opal less Opal. The pattern in the Mahogany is awesome and I love the Lace, brown spots and all. Gotta give that beach stone honorable mention. You did wonders with it.

Really nice cabs! I think that beach stone holds its own with the others. The mahogany really stands out though. Very striking! Good thing my sister in law doesn't go to this site. She would be drooling all over that Rhodonite! Thanks for the eye candy! Fran

Steve: Tony was busy keeping me unaware of the surprise party the family had for my 40th Tony: I like the adventurine, it looks sparkly, and the beach stone ( I know I won't be able to pry that one from your clutches.) Good job babe! Thank you for letting me cab last weekend!

Dang, man, you've gone from wanting to opal something fearce, to making fun of the poor little buggers That one has some nice little opal pools... and some nice pattern down on the left bottom. Shoot, they can't all look like exploding super nova's, Tony! Now apologize to the nice opal and ask it to introduce you to some of it's flashy friends I like the bue lace too! Tony

Beautiful, my favorites are the blue lace and the obsidian. I like the way you stretched my shape, it looks better this way.

Hey Tony!
Those are great! I really like the blue lace cab, those spotty looking patterns are super, I have a mex lace agate tumble that shows a similar structure and it's one of my very favorites. I really enjoyed seeing your range of shapes too, that's a tremendous spectrum of designs in such a few stones, I love the contrasts, you have got a very artistic eye for this sort of thing, must be all that wood work!
The Green Aventurine is an extraordinary example of the type, I have never seen such lamellar mica formation, did it cause you any problems on the grinding, sanding and polishing? You did a super job! ;D
It was nice to see your work again, looks like you had a very productive day, but I have to say that your Rhodonite is probably the finestexample I have ever seen. The pattern is fabulous, those branch like black markings work so well with that extreme pink! And the shape is just brilliant. Top marks Sir! Thanks so much for sharing the fruits of your labors.
Cheers,
Sparkles.

Thanks all for the comments. Steve, I have no idea what you are talking about. Sparkles, there are a few pits in the adventurine where the mica layer surfaces but they are only minor.

very pretty. If you are losing your sun try using your scanner on the computer. Put the cab face down on the scanner, cover the back with whatever material you like to use and scan. They are usually pretty good and then i just use a photo program to adjust the lighting if needed.
