It's been a while! Actually I started on these last weekend, but had the chance to finish them up today. Don't mind the tissue dust! Oreo Blizzard. This is some stuff I found last month just north of Phoenix Polka Dot from Daniel West Texas Somewhat Backlit Stone Canyon (I didn't realize until after the pic.. it's upside down : Unknown. This came from 'bubbly' thunderegg-like rough with chocolate colored skin, any ideas what it is? Psilomelane Thanks for looking!

Oh my golly! That psilomelane is flat out of this world! That one rules! The red orbicular looking material is called Rose Rock or Rosebud Jasper or a couple of other names I can't remember *L*. I think it's out of the Heppner, Oregon area near where the green and maroon Spiderweb Jasper comes from. Both are actually silicified rhyolite varieties. At least the miner I got mine from at Quartzite gave that information. I've since heard other Oregon or Idaho locations for both....Mel

Wow! Love that stuff you found north of Phoenix, and that Psilomelane is amazing!! I think I bought some stuff like that at the last rock show, but it doesn't have those kind of patterns at all, just some rectangles of the metalic stuff. Is it REALLY nasty and black to work with? I'm wondering if that's what I really have...

WOW I'll echo the comments for that last one! Woohoo!
Are those light areas hematite or white? they look like hematite - don't tell me though, that way I can keep that image in my head!

Hey, it's been a while but it's worth the waiting! Amazing cabs! I like mostly the polka dot (me too I have such a slab from Daniel - you rock Daniel!), the stone canyon and the red unknown.

:)WOW WOW WOW WOW I don't know if I have seen any of your cabs, another cab master hiding out? They are all so beautiful and shiny and well photographed, but that Psilomelane? What is that stuff? The oreo blizzard is really cool too, great stuff. I totally enjoyed this post. ;D Amber

Good to see you back at it Brian. That's a great group of cabs. Stone canyon is one of my favorite (non-green) rocks. The Psilomelane is the bomb. I don't have any of that material but I've heard the best way to cab it is on someone else's machine, very messy. Are the patterns typical?

Amazing Brian! I do like your cabs. That Psilomelane looks like some sort of metal. Great job!

Thanks for all the kind words folks! Mel I appreciate the ID on the unknown, it's some pretty cool stuff. Dee the psilomelane bleeds black like an oil well lol. It wasn't too bad tho. Tony I don't know how typical the patterns are. I have two chunks from different estate sales, one is rather bland compared to the one I cut this cab from.
Thanks again ;D
