That stuff is INSANE! They all look so 3-d especially that 2nd one. It looks like a little wart sticking out the side. You post some awesome materials...and those are splendid. Nice pictures too. Steve

Man those are really neat but I'm with you and think it's probably not a fossil gemstone. Absolutely gorgeous bunch of stones though. Is it hard material or a softer type stone?....Mel

Wow those are incredable cabs. I have never seen that before and it looks like feathers imbedded in rock. You did an awesome job cabbing them.

You can call them "retro cabs", with those black and white colors. Beautiful work.

Ooooh Yeah! That's a super stone!
The patterns are fantastic, Rockncritter, those cabs really rule! I've never seen the stuff worked like that before, but the pattern is vaguely familiar. I'm sure the patterns are Mineral rather than Animal in any form, is the black stuff glittery at all? Very cool stuff! Thanks for sharing!
Cheers,
Sparkles.

Also known as magnesite: magnesium carbonate (MgCO3), 3.5-4.5 on the Mohs hardness scale, rarely forming white rhombohedral crystals, more commonly found in massive form, associated with brucite (magnesium hydroxide, Mg(OH)2) in several different geological formations.
Nothing fossil-related in there to speak of, from what I see. Pinolith equates to magnesite on several German websites I found on Google.

I'm glad everyone likes these
