I just posted the preamble to this in the tumbling section for my first tumble load forum.rocktumblinghobby.com/index.cgi?board=trtphoto&action=display&thread=27015. As I have never been one to turn down a challenge, I crunch-timed in my first vibe load with some pre-shaped cabs. Had about 40-50 nice cabs out of my brand new UV-10. Here are the highlights: This one came out glassy. Green Moon Oligoclase Same stuff pre-shaped/sculpted this with my Dremel. Must've been drinking white russians that day... Two teardrop citrine from my neighbor's creek Have some hearts This one shows some sunstone and some strong green Love the pastels in this teardrop Don't mind the shadow 'cause I caught some sheen in this one Three more, orangy citrine on left and my significant other spent a morning shaping the one on the right And I thought this one was just plain ole cool. The big nugget is a bunch of smoky quartz crystals. Thanks for getting me here and thanks for lookin'. Jo

Great job, that second pic is cool! The citrine is beautiful, I'm gonna cut some up as soon as the tray on my workforce thaws out.

JO: You captured great pics, the citrines look really good all polished up, the teardrops would make nice earrings The sheen really shows in that one middle one, and the other larger teardrop looks really good. Nice work first timer!!!! Amber

Cool cabs. I like the pair of citrine and the last one is really neat.

Good for you Jo! I've been wondering when you'd post something Now we need to get you a cabber. But you did great with the vibe in the interim. I like the citrine, the tear drop, and the one you carved. And the big nugget is very cool! Tony

Thanks Tony and Fishenman. Yep, did the most with what I got, I'd say. Contemplating what to do about that cabber. We'll need something portable, that's for sure. Maybe I'll try to convert my grinder. Oh well, will figure something out after Christmas, time to be merry! Ho, Ho, Ho. Jo

Glad to see they turned out good even though you rushed them. Your shapes came out very good. Its always tough to keep a shape when you tumble a cab since the softer stuff wears away quicker. The two tear drop citrine have great color. I tried slicing a bit of that but the piece I have is a little crumbly but I only took a cut off the end. I'll have to slice further into it to try and get some good slabs.

Those are phennominal! I love the sheen that you caught in the 7th pic and that stone that you sculpted with the dremel is my favorite. It is just so cool. I didn't think PA had so different minerals and rock.
