I recently scored a major purchase on eBay.. a really nice, almost 100% fracture free, two or three pound piece of old stock Morgan Hill Poppy jasper! I was thrilled to get such a good piece, needless to say. Here is the piece, before slabbing: Now, here are some pieces I shaped and polished from this chunk. I was having so much fun working on these that I kept repeating a phrase that Jim Carey used in the movie "The Mask": Somebody stop me!!! Three of these are destined to become pendants, one of them was used as a prize on the "12 Days of Christmas" contest on the competition section, and the rest will be kept as freeforms. And I still have more of the rock left over to play with. Merry Christmas to me!

You look like needing to be stopped, indeed. But then again, it would be pitty, you do such amazing cabs! All of them are BEAUTIFUL. And so solid, which means a lot to poppy jasper.

Every time I see a piece of beautiful Morgan Hill Poppy, I nearly cry thinking about the site being covered by a dot com complex. I was told, that most of it is actually under a parking lot. Don't know if this is acutally true, but there is not much open space in Morgan Hill anymore. NIce E-Bay score, and what beautiful caps you got out of it. Thank you for post this eye candy for us! That is some amazingly nice Morgan Hill. A lot of the collecting areas are covered up now and others are either on government land or private property. I met someone recently who told me she still finds chunks on open land, I just haven't had the time to get down there to do some hunting. It's still one of my favorite stones. You got a great chunk of it, excellent cabs.
