Well I thought that slabs that traveled across the Atlantic needed a little attention, so I had a few hours at the cab machine on Saturday and I worked on the slabs from Sparkles Thank you for sending me these mate!!! You are a sweetie! Still am on the dop short bus, still can't cut an oval, but the shine is better with Tony's new wet belts, and I did have fun! So that is the important thing. Wore the apron~~still was soaked used the magnifying glass~~ no scratches on the edges!!! I wish one of you would make a dop tute!!!! And this is an exciting post because I took my own photos and finally got those buggers into the computer and photo bucket all by myself!!!! I usually have Tony do it, I worked 2 solid hours on this darn photo stuff. As if making cabs isn't hard enough! The photo stuff is just as hard, I don't know how you guys get such good photos Oh well, enough rambling, enjoy!!! Seftonite-South African Blood Stone A Curious English Beach Rock Has little flecks of silver, note the perfect oval shape, LOL Indian Green Moss Agate- My favorite!!! Loved this material, it was shiny right off the bat, it took a nice shape and the colors are great in it. I wish the mossy part would show up better. Would love to cab more of this Amber

Hey, you're getting some skills girl! Looks like you got a great polish and the shapes are really coming along well. My favorite is the last green one....Mel

Those cabs are beautiful and beautifully shined. That beach cab looks like it has fossils in it. It is really cool looking. My favorite is the Indian Moss. I love the shape you put on that cab.
Good for you Amber, you conquered Photobucket. You made me laugh when you mentioned the amount of time you spent with it. If anything frustrates me, it's photobucket. You go girl!

My favorite is the first one, it's got depth. I know what you're saying about photo bucket, spent a whole morning in slapstick comedy figuring it out! Good for you! All are beautiful, I'm inspired! Jo

I hate that photobucket removed the autocopy on the photo links! Grrr....
These came out GREAT, Amber!!!! I really, really love the last one...perfect shape to really set off that stone. You did a SUPER job with the others, too! That oval is definitely perfectly oval! I see a really nice shine on every one, too.

These are awesome Amber. Keep up the good work and most importantly....the enthusiasm. It's contagious and that's not a bad thing to spread around!

The photos of the first and last don't do them justice. Both are beautiful stones and Amber did a bang up job on them. She didn't mention it in her post but she told me she thinks the last one is her best cab ever. I like it but she has done a bunch of great cabs so its hard to say this one is hte best. Her shapes are definitely getting better and one of her Christmas presents might help with that.

Amber those are great! I loove bloodstone, and the color on that one is fantastic! The beach rock is a beauty for sure, and the Moss agate is absolutely perfect! Wish I had your skills.

You guys are all so sweet, I gotta love Titania, she is the only one with crooked glasses to see my oval!!!!! It is all of you who do such great work that inspire me to keep plugging at this!!! I really like making cabs for people and using the material from friends, it really seems to make it go better!!! And I really like thinking of the person who sent them to me, and trying to do them proud!!!

You get better each time! Love the moss agate also. The pics are good but a little blurred. Did you use a tripod? And hold your breath Dop tute.... super glue gel on head of roofing nail set to flat on back ..end dop tute You are stubborn...but that is why you get better each time! T

HAHAHA, a tripod? I have that antishake feature, but I will try holding my breath next time. Maryann sent me that nice dop pot, and the first time it was great, now they are popping off, I don't understand why we can't dop right. We were doing super glue on a wooden dowel, and they popped off too. But maybe the nail thing will work!!! Tony does them by hand so he never used anything, I don't know how he does it. Me~~~stubborn? You are right John- it is a freeform!! I can't follow the lines!!! I try to trace shapes, but somehow I always lose them and they become a freeform!! Frane & MM- I like that bloodstone too, it has various shades of a sage green in it, very pretty.

Hey Amber! You did it!
I think they came out really well Buddy, I'm so pleased you enjoyed the stones and had some fun cutting a few pretty cabs, and what beautiful cabs they are! ;D
The Seftonite is pretty stuff isn't it?! Those red splotches hanging in pale blue/green chalcedony is lovely, and the random brecciated green jaspery chunks and mossy veins here and there are cool! You did such a great job, it's one of my favourite stones. Looks shiny as can be and the shape is cool too, I must cut some pointeys, they are interesting shapes.
Little pesky English beach pebbles can be very problematic, but it appears that you found no such difficulties! Well Done! That seems to me to be a cracking little Oval Cabochon! The Perspective... on your photograph gives a really arty feel to the picture, but the stone looks really lovely! I just thought it was an interesting pebble, glad you enjoyed it.
The Green Moss is beautiful! Your shape looks crisp and even, and the pattern alignment gives interest and appeal. I think the white agate infill gives a super contrast to the mossy green that can be so dense it's almost overpowering in the body of much of this rough. The shine you hit looks dazzling Amber! Congrats and Nice Job! ;D
Thanks for having fun, and I'm so pleased you got a new PB so to speak, that shows how much you've learnt and I'm sure that this is just the start! You wait till you get that new machine... We are going to enjoy seeing the results! ;D Go Amber! Those cabs rock! ;D
Cheers,
Sparkles.

amber you did a great job on all of them. I must say the last one is my favorite. As for the oval, if you turn you head slightly to the right, close one eye.......yes its a perfect oval lol sorry the dop pot is such a problem for you, i was hoping the one i gave you would work for you.

Darlin' the super glue won't work on a dowel. The wood just sucks in the glue. Use 5 min epoxy on a dowel, and make sure the end is cut 90 degrees and flush. Use the super glue gel on a nail head. I like a spiral shank roofing nail and wrap the shank in tape and jam it into a hole in the end of the dowel if you want something bigger to hold onto. Need to get a tripod! They are cheap. Your anti shake setting is a bit shakey T

Nice Cabs Queenie! ;D I think you are doing pretty darn good...and you're having FUN too!!! ;D I think it would be a swell idea if someone posted a Dopping Tutorial...cuz I have problems as well. I think alot of it is the cold temps out in my cold shed. Even using Hot Water in the trays...it doesn't take long to turn FREEZING! I might not get many cabs done before Spring...so I'm Thrilled to see all the cabs everyone else posts. Keep em' coming Amber. Nice new Avatar BTW..you and Tony look Great together. Steve
