I replaced my 280 grit Nova wheel on my Genie and really struggled to get the wheels re-balanced. It seemed no matter which way I rotated the wheels there was a slight "bounce," which really didn't change much as I rotated them.
Is there some trick or technique I'm missing? I guess it is just a mass distribution issue and I could sand the arbor a bit to balance, but I'm hesitant to do that.
Thanks, HPD

Did you have the bounce before installing the new wheel? Maybe the new wheel is out of balance. Bob

Is your unit the Lortone 6" cab unit, if so the rubber bearing rings around the bearing`s need`s to be compressed as it was, You should find marks as to how to alien the rubber ring.
As i have a Lortone 6" cab unit and it has a home on the floor. where it belongs with the other floor sweeping`s
As for the Nova wheel send it back, as i have never found a wheel of theirs out of balance's. As i don`t have a cue to your arber type and the machine your using.
Check the collier plates too.

The new Nova wheel has minimal bounce, it is my Galaxy wheels that have it. Thanks, HPD

Well, a couple of things come to mind. All surfaces mating surfaces of the wheels and spacers should be clean and free of any grit. I like to clean the edges of the Galaxy wheels whenever I have them apart.
Then, I try my best to fit the three wheels and spacers on the shaft as perfect to 90 degrees as possible. You know about turning the wheels. I have reversed direction and taken the wheels off the shaft 4-5 times to get just the right balance. Keep trying, you'll get it balanced again.
